Best whisky tasting we could have asked for! - If you’re going to do a whisky tasting in Edinburgh, you must do it at Jeffrey Street Whisky & Tobacco. This place is an absolute gem. Our tasting class with Hector was a standout highlight of our trip. My husband loves whisky, but I feel neutrally about it, yet we both learned so much and had an absolute blast.
Before the class, we were unsure which flight to try, and Hector gave really helpful suggestions to guide us. And we enjoyed the ones we had!
The whisky was delicious, the history was fascinating, and Hector was so charming, funny, and informative. His enthusiasm for alcohol and its history is infectious. He is steeped in knowledge (pun intended) about whisky and Scottish history, generous with his time, and very approachable.
In addition, Hector gave excellent suggestions for special finds we could ship back with us to the States. So: if you want a truly special and one-of-a-kind whisky tasting, this is the place for you.

A fun & classy tasting - We did the “What is Scotch” tasting, going in as English novices but coming out with a greater understanding of the history & culture of Scotch whisky.
Hector was an engaging & informative host who was clued up in both the drink & clients, giving us an in depth & entertaining experience to compliment the tastings.
The whiskys themselves were rare & high quality, an upgrade on anything a regular bar could serve up. Would definitely recommend.

Highlight of our trip in Edinburgh - This was everything I wanted from a whisky tasting session! Hector was so knowledgable and passionate about whisky and the history of whisky in Scotland. I could have listened to him for another hour at the least. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to learn about whisky and have fun

Excellent for stag do, recommended above others available by far. - Absolutely fantastic. As best man the stag asked for a whisky & cigar experience, and we tried the 'straight from the cask' package, trying 5 whiskies, ranging upto 65% and at least one from a distillery that no longer exists.
It was clear that our host loved what he was talking about; he was funny, informative and really approachable.
In addition to the absolutely amazing range of whiskies their pipes, cigars and tobacco range is amazing, alongside a selection of chocolates complimentary to the palate of the whiskies available.
I absolutely recommend this as a stag do choice above others available - a great price, a great experience and will be ordering from them in the future.

Lovely shop, excellent tasting experience - My mom and I did the regional whisky tasting with a larger group a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Hector was knowledgeable and entertaining for people with varying degrees of interest and knowledge of whisky. I've been to many distilleries and tastings and still learned so many new things. Following the tasting, Hector spent time with us as we made purchase decisions, let us taste a few before we decided, and specially wrapped them for their international journey home. The shop carried an interesting selection of bottles and the service was excellent. Will definitely visit on my next trip through Edinburgh.

Great and informative whisky tasting - My husband and I participated in the 'regions' whisky tasting during our recent stay in Edinburgh, where we tasted whisky from each of the five regions of Scotland. The other people who were participating in the tasting had chosen different options, but because of the way the tasting works it didn't matter. Essentially, Hector took us on a journey of the history of whisky and Scotland's role in it whilst we drank whisky! The focus was more on this than the actual individual whiskies, so if you are hoping to learn more about each whisky this probably isn't the tasting for you. Hector purposefully didn't tell us what we had been drinking until the end, which we liked as it didn't colour our judgement on the taste. However, after the tasting, he was very willing to talk in more detail about each of the whiskies and he really knew his stuff! We would definitely recommend this tasting and will be coming back next time we're here!

Excellent whisky tasting and shop in Edinburgh! - My husband and I joined a small group of others for a late afternoon whisky tasting at Jeffrey Street. Each individual could do a whisky tasting of their choice (visit their website for more info on the lineup). I did the regional introductory tasting and my husband did a more experienced regional whisky tasting. More than just a tasting, our guide really dove into the unique history of whisky in Scotland (and beyond).
As you can expect, we learned how to properly nose and drink the whisky. Which was eye opening for myself and my whisky-loving husband.
I would recommend this tasting to anyone visiting Edinburgh - the entire spectrum of visitors - from those who already love whisky to those who don’t know anything about it. It’s fun and informative and guaranteed to give you a new appreciation for whisky!
Also, if you’re wanting to buy whisky to take home, they have a very nice variety (more than you can fit in your luggage, unfortunately!).
Enjoy :)
