- Garni Temple - Perched on a triangular cape, Garni Temple stands as the sole surviving example of pagan culture in Armenia, showcasing a fusion of Greco-Roman and Armenian architectural styles. Commissioned by King Trdat The First in the first century AD, it was dedicated to the Sun God. Following the adoption of Christianity in 301, the temple’s importance waned, and the Garni fortress became the summer residence for kings. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of the royal palace and a bathhouse adorned with exquisite mosaics near the temple.
- The Monastery of Geghard - The Geghard Monastery is an unparalleled masterpiece of 13th-century Armenian architecture. Some of its churches are intricately carved into a massive rock. Initially known as Ayrivank (cave monastery), it was later renamed Geghard (lance) because the lance used by a Roman soldier to pierce Jesus Christ’s side was preserved here for centuries. Geghardavank’s design makes it an ideal venue for singing spiritual hymns. The complex is adorned with delicate sculptural decorations and numerous impressive khachkars (cross-stones). This site is recognized on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
- Ropeway of Tsaghkadzor - Tsaghkadzor, meaning “valley of flowers,” is one of Armenia’s most beloved winter resorts. This mountainous region showcases the diverse beauty of nature. Located in the Kotayk region, 60 km north of Yerevan, it lies on the eastern slope of Teghenis Mountain, surrounded by pristine forests and alpine meadows.
Optional: free time or ropeway ride
- Kecharis Monastery - Situated in the north-western part of Tsaghkadzor, Kecharis Monastery was constructed between the 11th and 13th centuries. The complex includes four churches and a partially ruined mausoleum of Grigorius Pahlavuni, who funded the monastery’s construction.
