Its name came from the legendary lance that was used to pierce the body of Christ. It has been kept here for centuries. Though the exact foundation of the monastery is unknown, the present complex was built in the mid – 13th century. Head to Lake Sevan which is one of the largest lakes in the world. It stands out with its sweet and astonishingly blue water. Here we can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the beautiful lake. Then we will visit Sevanavank Monastery which is situated on Sevan Peninsula. There are 2 monasteries actually; one of them is destroyed but the other stands still.

Our journey begins at the Garni Temple. Established in the 1st century AD, this Pagan Temple is the only remaining temple from the Pagan era in Armenia. Despite being ruined by an earthquake in 1679, it was carefully restored in 1975. Our next stop is the Geghard Monastery, named after the mythical lance that supposedly pierced Christ’s body. Even though its exact construction year is uncertain, the current complex was erected in the middle of the 13th century. Following this, we’ll proceed to Lake Sevan, one of the world’s most substantial lakes, renowned for its sweet and incredibly blue water where we can bask in the lake’s splendid landscape. Afterward, we’ll tour the Sevanavank Monastery on the Sevan Peninsula consisting of two monasteries - one that lies in ruins while the other continues to stand firm.
