Beautiful! - A top team! Great respect for whales. In my opinion the best provider of this beautiful Gansbaii Bay. Thanks to them.

Whale of a time - Friendly welcome from 'Ivanhoes' receptionist, down at Gansbaai Harbour. Faultless experience once on board with crew. The boats really comfy and offers fabulous views of danger point Lighthouse, the Cape fold mountains, Gansbaii and Walker Bay Nature reserve from the ocean. Infact on a clear day you can see over past Hermanus to Betty's Bay, We saw Seals in the harbour and far out at sea. Luckily we also got to see a Southern Right Whale and her Calf. There's only so long in the season when they are here, this we were warned about and told that most had moved on. This highlights the skill in finding the Whales and the professionalism of the company of being honest about expectations. They see Dolphins on occassions and other whale species too at times. But as with any safari, albeit on land or sea, you never know what you're going to see. I think that this adds to the excitement. I thoroughly recommend using these guys.

Excellent whale watch - We chose Ivanhoe as the boats are not too big, making it a more personal experience. We soon found the majestic Southern Right Whales, several Mums with Calf’s . They swam right along side the boat, so relaxed . Very emotional experience. The tour is only two hours long , we could all have stayed out longer . Try to choose a calm day, as spotting the whales is so much easier.

Whale tour - What an incredible experience! Our guide was funny and informative. We managed to see two kinds of whales and even a baby whale . Would definitely do it again!

Heave on Sea, with Ivanhoe Sea Safari. - Many years ago when Rudy H. was still around he invited me to come on a free trip, I was not so keen on this, but he and Lionel Paeper convinced me that I would bring them luck. Low and behold I took the trip and I was stunned......right in front of me was two whale " doodling" a bit then split up and all of a sudden jumping up towards each other and bend over backwards as if they where making a heart in the air. All I heard was screaming "See Sue you gave us luck". Rudy and Lionel is no longer around in Gansbaai and neater am I, But I will never forget Gansbaai and the whales from my front stoop. You can read and look at picture as much as you like, but to go on a "IVANHOE SEA SAFARI " trip was the best that day. Rudy gave me a photo of a whale tail as a gift, it is hanging in a safe place now and the picture is all over the internet I let it free. It was many years ago ...............

Great trip and very professional company. - This company was great, when my husband and son were ill on the day of our trip they allowed us to change to the net day with no extra charge. On the actual trip the staff were very professional and knowledgeable. We managed to see some whales close up and really enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Wildlife on Walker Bay - It was a very appealing and successful whale watching. Our captain explained a lot about the right whales and never pressed the whales on the tour. The young are usually so curious and come to the ship by themselves. The Ivanhoe is quite a small ship, but this makes the tour even more beautiful. And from Gansbaai also the only boat, so no mass tourism.

An amazing boat trip with an Excellent and Knowledgeable Guide - The boat trip was amazing. We have never seen so many whales (calves with mothers), in any other place before as well as at least 100 dolphins, as well as seals. The guide took us around Gansbaai, and explained with passion and knowledge so much about whales, he had our family group of 6 adults and our 3 teenage grandchildren mesmerized with all the explanations and closeness to these amazing mammals. An unforgettable experience highly recommended from Gansbaai which is far less touristic than Hermanus, but perfect for whale watching.

Wonderful up close and personal encounter with the whales - Well organised tour with well informed guides. We came up really close to the whales which gave us an amazing experience. It might be nice to have less people on the boat to have more room to move around the front deck to take pictures. All in all a wonderful experience!

Sorry, can not recommend - We did Whale Watching with Ivanhoe Safaris. It was not a nice experience. Approximately 15 drunk Russians sceaming every time we saw the whales coming out of the water. The guide did not tell them to shut up! The boat was smelly from petro, no drinks except water. The price was very high for South African standards. Safety instructions were good. It should have become a highlight but it was opposite.
