- Eyre Square - Known in Irish as ‘An Fhaiche Mhór’, Eyre Square is situated in the center of Galway City and is officially named the John F. Kennedy Memorial Park. This square boasts a rich history, dating back to medieval times when markets were held on the green in front of the town gates. It continues to be a favored gathering spot for both visitors and locals, with the grassy areas often bustling on sunny days. A bust of US President Kennedy, who was honored as a Freeman of the city, marks the location where he addressed around 100,000 Galway residents in 1963, during his final visit before his assassination.
The park features several ornate fixtures, including the historic Browne family mansion doorway (1627) and the Quincentennial fountain (1984), which represents the Galway Hooker, a traditional fishing boat unique to Galway.
- Lynch’s Castle - Explore and learn about the 14 tribes of Galway and discover more about this medieval castle, now an AIB Bank, featuring the Henry VII Coat of Arms and gargoyles.
- Oscar Wilde & Eduard Vilde Statue - Make a brief stop on Shop Street to view the Oscar Wilde Statue and learn about one of Ireland’s most iconic writers.
- Saint Nicholas’ Collegiate Church - Visit the church where Christopher Columbus is believed to have visited before his voyage to the New World.

Founded in 1975 by Garry Hynes, Marie Mullen, and Mick Lally, who first met and collaborated as members of the University College Galway dramatic society, commonly known as NUIG Dramasoc. It was the first Irish theatre company of its kind.
- The Spanish Arch - Explore this renowned medieval archway, deeply connected to Galway’s maritime history.
- Galway City Museum - Visit this compact museum established in the mid-1970s. Initially located in Comerford House, which was previously the residence of artist Clare Sheridan, the museum began with a collection of medieval stones from the city, acquired by Sheridan. Curated by Etienne Ryan, Michael Keaney, Bill Scanlan, and Jim Higgins, the museum has developed a diverse collection of folklife, industrial, and militia artifacts.
