The shrine’s red-painted structures include a main hall from 1615, a dance stage, and several auxiliary buildings.
• Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai (忍野八海) is a popular tourist destination featuring eight ponds in Oshino, a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region, situated between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako on the site of a former sixth lake that dried up several hundred years ago. The ponds are fed by snowmelt from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji, which filters through porous layers of lava for over 80 years, resulting in exceptionally clear spring water that is highly valued by the locals.
• Kawaguchi - Lake Kawaguchiko (河口湖) is the most accessible of the Fuji Five Lakes, with train and direct bus connections to Tokyo. A hot spring resort town with various tourist attractions and views of Mount Fuji is located around the lake’s eastern end, while the northern and western shores remain mostly undeveloped.
• Oishi Park - Oishi Park (大石公園) is located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchiko. The park offers a stunning view of both the lake and Mount Fuji simultaneously. Various flowers bloom along the lakeside promenade according to the season. Oishi Park is famous for hosting the Kawaguchiko Herb Festival, a popular early summer event where lavender flowers spread like a purple carpet across the park. The park’s lavender fields with Mount Fuji in the background are a breathtaking sight. Additionally, Flower Street features seasonal blooms, and in autumn, the area is covered with crimson Kokia. Even in winter, the park’s illumination displays are popular, making it a year-round attraction.
