Fuji, Aokigahara, also known as the Sea of Trees due to its density, can be easily paired with a visit to the mountain.

• Narusawa Ice Cave - This is one of the three major lava tubes at Mount Fuji’s northern base. The Narusawa Ice Cave stretches 156 meters along the visitor path, with widths ranging from 1.5 to 11 meters and heights from 1 to 3.6 meters. The cave maintains an average temperature of about 3°C. Historically, it served as a natural refrigerator. During the Edo period, ice from this cave was sent to the shōgun and his entourage in Edo. In the early 1900s, ice from here was used in refrigeration before the advent of electric refrigerators.
• Saiko Bat Cave - The Lake Sai Bat Cave is the largest of several lava tubes near Lake Sai, located in the Aokigahara forest on Mount Fuji’s northern side in Japan. It is famous for allowing visitors to observe the bats residing there.
• Fugaku Wind Cave - The 864 A.D. eruption of Mount Fuji resulted in massive lava flows, forming Lake Shōji and Lake Sai of the Fuji Five Lakes by splitting Se-no-umi into two, creating several cinder cones like Ōmuro and Nagao mountains, and a vast flat area now known as the Aokigahara Forest.
