Nestled in a former glacial trough, the lake is bordered by a moraine and drains into the Wanganui River via Ianthe Creek. A quick stop is made here for photos before proceeding to Hokitika.
• Hokitika - Known as a ‘Cool Little Town,’ Hokitika is renowned for its rugged black sand beaches and driftwood-strewn coastline. After a short photo opportunity at the beach to enjoy the surf and views of the Tasman Sea, there is an option to explore local shops or join the group for a visit to the Hokitika Gorge.
• Greymouth - Following a busy morning, the journey continues to Greymouth.
