Glacier Country Helicopters is a family-owned and operated business located in Franz Josef, on New Zealand’s West Coast. The company was founded by the husband and wife duo, Gus and Poppy, in January 2014. You can often find one of them piloting flights on most days.

The Glacier Explorer flight offers an aerial view of the Franz Josef Glacier, followed by a journey into the Southern Alps, where a 10-minute snow landing is included for photo opportunities. The entire experience lasts approximately 25 minutes.

To book a Comfort Seat or request a Front Seat/Executive Helicopter Upgrade, please contact the company at least 24 hours before your scheduled flight.

Please allocate an additional 45 minutes beyond your flight time for check-in, transportation to the helicopter, loading, unloading, and returning to the office.

• Please let us know if you have limited mobility e.g. injury, arthritis or recent surgery? There are two high ladder style steps into the helicopter. This information could effect what helicopter we fly you in.
• Comfort Seats: Our helicopter seats are 40cm wide, an empty seat can be reserved next to you if you prefer extra space (passengers 120KG & over when weighed at check in will be required to purchase a Comfort Seat - these are half the RRP of your flight).
