Peaceful evening glide across the lake - Great guides on this tour. Make you feel safe in the kayaks and give lots of encouragement. They take the photos so you can just enjoy the scenery. Good fun!

Wonderful experience - A beautiful morning on the lake, amazing scenery and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to our lovely guide Rosie. Fabulous views of the mountains and lots of bird life, including a white heron. It was peaceful, serene and a joy to be there. Rosie made our experience great.

A Hidden Gem - We loved our cruise on Lake Mapourika with Nicole. She was able to cater for my mum who had trouble getting into the boat which we really appreciated. Nicole was a wealth of knowledge, telling us about the history of lake and the surrounding area. I learnt lots about the introduced species and the efforts that are going into eradicating them. I also enjoyed Nicole telling us the story about behind Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers' Maori names. We enjoyed spectacular views across the lake and up to the glaciers and mountains. It was also a big treat to be the only boat cruising around. A definite hidden gem here on the West Coast and I would defintely recommend to anyone visiting the area

Relaxing and enjoyable trip around the lake. - Due to injury we were not able to go kayaking and the company switched our booking to a boat cruise with no difficulty at all. Rosie was our tour guide, she was friendly, knowledgeable and made a good cup of tea! We were so lucky to be the only people on the boat - it definitely felt like a private tour. Thanks Rosie!

River Cruise - Our experience with Franz Joseph Tours on their river cruise was absolutely unforgettable. On a rainy day, feeling cooped up in our motorhome, we decided to give the river cruise a try as a last-minute option—and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Nicole, our lively and spirited skipper, kept the energy high, while Max surprised us with his remarkable storytelling. Despite his quiet demeanor, Max had an extraordinary talent for weaving folklore and history into mesmerizing tales, making us feel like children gathered around a campfire listening to a wise sage. The combination of breathtaking scenery, captivating stories, and a comforting hot beverage created an experience that was both magical and deeply relaxing. What started as a rainy day stuck indoors ended up being one of the most cherished memories of our journey. Thank you, Franz Joseph Tours, for such an incredible adventure!
