Excellent tour, great information about food and culture - We added this tour to the end of our La Rochelle walking tour as John had spaces available. We’ve never done a food tour before and will now be looking to do more! We went to places we would never have found and even though one of us doesn’t drink alcohol it was still worth the money. John was knowledgeable and has excellent relationships with the vendors, allowing you to learn so much about the food and culture. Cannot recommend this highly enough

Flavours of Charente Maritime - A selection of delicious food and drink which is representative of the region, with explanations and context provided. We had wine, cheese and oysters and soaked up the atmosphere of a bustling French market. A lovely way to spend an afternoon in La Rochelle.

A comprehensive introduction to the food and wine on offer in La Rochelle, highly recommended! - Our food tour with John was thoroughly enjoyable. We started with sampling delicious Pineau aperitif and onto the market to sample oysters, cheese and wine, finishing with a local dessert and a taste of cognac. A very comprehensive introduction to the gastronomic delights of La Rochelle, highly recommended!

An adventure in local tastes!! - Amazing whirlwind of food and wine as well! We tried fantastic oysters right from the vendor at tiny tables in the middle of the market, with local wine from Ile d’oberon! Also sampled the local aperitif, pineau, and stopped in to a wonderful little resto! Ands most delicious pastry as well! All in all, the tour is a great value and John is a fantastic guide! Even better when touring about the town we had so many ideas on where to go in the market and elsewhere!! Merci pour l’aventure dégustation!

Rain or shine , a guided tour of La Rochelle by John McG is a sure bet. - John Mc G was an excellent guide. Interesting, enthusiastic and interactive, we could not have asked for better. My wife, Mary, and myself had the pleasure of a history and food tour with John and we really feel our money was well spent. Whether it be different perspectives on city’s past, wines, pineaux, cognacs, viennoiseries, restaurants, this guy knows his stuff. We checked out one of his stops, Les Saveurs de L’R with two of our tour mates tonight and it was divine. Parole d’honneur, this guy will not disappoint you !

A must for all lovers of food and drink - John is friendly and personable. He is passionate about La Rochelle and the local food and drink. It was a fantastic lunch experience spread over 3.5 hours and many locations. Seafood, charcuterie, cheeses, entrèes, pastries, aperitifs, wines and spirits. We met the creators and vendors of these treats, who were all delightful without exception. May seem a bit expensive, but really isn't considering what you get. Highly recommended
