A Pirates Life for Me - My husband went on this tour because, like so many others, I am fascinated by pirates and their history! This museum is not filled with replicas, it is actual found treasure. You can even have an opportunity to lift a 25-lb silver brick! You will hear about the ship, its treasure, and how Mel Fisher found it!

Its one of the things you do in Key West, unique to KW. - Key West is snorkeling, boating, history, cigar making and, among other things, maritime history. Mel Fisher is famous for discovering a major shipwreck off the coast that was front page news back in the day. This museum closely details that story, and more about the wrecking history of KW. On the second floor the current exhibit is about the slave trade, which KW also played a role in. Not as glamorous as finding doubloons, but part of our history that is not overlooked by this museum.

Fine 'shipwreck' museum tour - This was a fine tour for our family in Key West. Price of admission includes self guided tour of the exhibits. The exhibits themselves are nicely done. Appropriately and easily relates history of Key West, shipwrecks, and Mel's adventure/business in recovering the wrecks. Our family was glad we selected this museum to tour.

Low Key Presentation for the Largest Treasure Ever Found - I remember when it was announced the Atocha (Spanish ship from the 1600's) was discovered and the initial stories were released. It was an amazing story about the biggest sunken treasure ever recovered. As a kid I was fascinated about treasure hunters, especially sunken treasure. The museum did not present this amazing story as amazingly as I could imagine it could have been told. That being said, it is a good museum with good displays. It is informative and educational. The excitement and the importance of this find were underemphasized.

Only OK - The tour is underwhelming if you expect much treasure and artifacts. There is just a few less spectacular treasure items . Most of the exhibits are to be read about, somewhat more like a history book than a museum. For the admission price, not worth it. Very little to see.

Disappointing- not worth the price of admission . - Went here with my wife and we were both disappointed . The title of the museum is misleading . It’s all about a treasure hunter on the first floor and the seaborne slave trade on the second floor . A niche museum lacking broad appeal .

Don't GO! - What a disappointment! Gone is the treasure! What should be about a treasure hunter's pay day has now been replaced with the a history lesson about the slave trade and a few treasure trinkets from the sunken ship. Shame on you Mel Fisher Museum! I remember the experience and the artifacts on display being so much more! What happened to all the treasure?? It's simple....stick to the story and show people what they paid money to see!

Most disappointing museum in Key West - The gold exhibit, whiich was the best part of the museum, is no longer on display Some silver is still on display The museum is now mostly a slave ship museum The administrator said someone stole one of the gold bars, so the gold exhib, which was the great reason to go the museum, had been removed All jewelry items for sale are now imitations, not the real gold/silver couns The museum is a pale imitation of what it once was It should not be recommended at all
