Fun and Informative! - My mum and I have done this eco tour 3 times now and love it more every time! The Lazy Dog crew are organized, friendly, and knowledgeable. We learn something new on each trip, and always love getting to interact with little critters like the lettuce slugs and sea hares. This year, Tall Heather was our guide and she shared ecological facts as well as some economic history of the Keys and how marine resources are everything to these islands. Can’t wait for next year!

Great trip! - Fun, interesting trip! A little more effort involved than I first thought as a first timer as far as maneuvering the kayak! Happy we went!

Disappointing experience - We booked a Mangrove Kayak Eco Tour with Kayak Kings Key West for April 2026 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we arrived on time at Cow Key Marina for our scheduled tour, but no one from Kayak Kings was there. We waited about 20 minutes and tried to get help from others at the marina booth, only to be told they weren’t affiliated. Since we were visiting from Canada without data or Wi-Fi access, we couldn’t even check for updates or contact the company. We ended up purchasing a day of data (about $16 CAD) just to check our messages and try to reach them. Only then did we realize we had a missed call and voicemail saying it was a bit windy and asking if we wanted to reschedule, but also mentioning we could still go out that day. We called back immediately saying we were still interested in going out, only to be told they had already rescheduled with the other couple and, since they didn’t hear from us, they thought we weren't going to show up. We would have never guessed that it was "too windy" as it was a beautiful day and we saw other kayaks out on the water. We think it was just an excuse for them to try to reschedule because something must have come up and they wanted to get out of the booking. This was incredibly frustrating and honestly unacceptable. We had already spent time and money arranging transportation out to the marina and showed up as scheduled, only to be left waiting with no communication or support on-site. A business should not rely on a single missed call and then not show up at all - especially when dealing with travellers who may be from out of country and not have immediate phone access. Overall, this was a wasted afternoon with added costs, and a really disappointing experience. Kayak Kings did refund us for our tour, but obviously there was no reimbursement for our transportation expenses across the island and back for nothing (about $40+ USD), as well as our wasted time.
