Fall for Florence but don't FALL in Florence like I did! - Please Fall for Florence! It's quite beautiful! BUT don't Fall IN Florence like I did! And, before you ask, NO, I wasn't drinking . . . it was like 9 a.m. So, this isn't so much a review as it is a WARNING! Be careful if you rent an apartment (which was gorgeous) that has an elevator that leads to a dark area that is on the street level with a stainless light 'plate' on the wall that you hit and the lights come on. That is all good unless, you don't immediately go out the street level door and the light goes off in the middle of you walking to the outside street door and you trip on a tiny step you cannot see in the dark and whoops! I ended up in the emergency room after face planting on that concrete - severe concussion, cracked my ankle and cracked bone in my cheek and then I bruised the left side of my face - the bruise went from my eye to my chin - it looked exactly like the country outline of South America. SO, we were going to go (my daughter and I) to the Cinque Terre (nope) and lost a lot of money on rentals. Then I spent all day in the emergency room, longer days getting back to the states. I know everyone thought I'd been in a bar brawl and then the lovely cast on my leg! So maybe you don't want to stay in an apartment building or carry a flalshlight! I'm still wearing the boot - almost a month now and still have to go to plastic surgeon about the cheek. BTW, I had no problem before this happened walking all over Florence fast; I WAS very fit at 71 . . . just bring a flashligh if you are staying in an apartment building where they are trying to save electricity. I'm a country gal with a house and a carport and not used to wonky apartment living in a foreign country! Obvisouly! Take Care!
