Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erg Chebbi
Merzouga - After picking you up at your accommodation, we leave the walls of Fez and enter the shade of cedar forests. Our journey first takes us through the Atlas Mountains to Ifrane, often referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’. This area is very crowded during the snow season as it is the main ski resort in Morocco. Our next stop is Azrou, a forested village surrounded by mountains and known as the home of the Barbary Macaque. Leaving the Atlas Mountains, we head south toward the gateway to the Sahara, Merzouga, passing through Midelt, a Berber village known for its production of apples, apricots, and plums. A few hours later, our trip arrives in Erfoud, where we will spend the night. The change in landscape is dramatic - the Sahara is not far now. Enjoy your dinner, relax, and get ready for more excitement.
Day 2: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomad family – camel trekking
Erg Chebbi - Enjoy your breakfast in the Kasbah. Our day is packed with fun activities. Our first stop will be the Khamlia village, where you will be welcomed by Gnawa music and dance. Khamlia is home to the descendants of slaves and servants of Morocco’s Sultans. After meeting a nomadic family and stopping for a cup of tea to see their amazing lifestyle that hasn’t changed for decades, get ready for an adrenaline rush as you cruise the vast dunes on quads with a professional guide. Try sand-boarding before we continue to our desert camp, where you will meet a camel caravan. Here, you will trade your vehicle for camels and enjoy a one-hour camel trek on the sand dunes during sunset, the best time for pictures. Awaiting you at the bivouac is a lovely atmosphere with Berber music and drums, a traditional dinner, and a private Berber tent under the starry desert sky.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi Dune - Todra Gorges - Dades
Todgha Gorge - Wake up early to witness the sunrise, another highlight of the tour. After breakfast, our first destination will be Rissani, a city that served as a caravan trading post until a century ago. Historically known for its gold and slave auctions, it was an important stop on the gold route between Marrakech and Timbuktu and the main road connecting North Africa and the sub-Saharan countries. We then head to the Atlas Mountains once again, this time toward Tinghir, one of the most beautiful oases in Morocco. We will drive to the top of Dades Valley for a beautiful view over the valley and the mountain gorge before heading toward Todra Valley. This valley is a contrast of rocky canyons and huge palm trees, perfect for photo stops. Later, we will reach the famous Todra Mountain Gorge, with an altitude of 400m (1312ft), where you can walk through one of the most attractive natural sights in Morocco. We will settle for the night in a guest house in the Dades Valley.
Day 4: Dades - Valley of Roses - Ouarzazate
Ouarzazate - Get ready to hop on your ride once again as we head to Ouarzazate, passing through the Valley of Roses. We will stop at Kalaa Mgouna, a beautiful Berber town known for its annual Rose Festival and its production of perfume and beauty products. After stopping for lunch, we will resume our journey toward Skoura, an oasis town where you will visit the 17th-century Kasbah of Amridil before arriving at our final stop of the day, Ouarzazate. Known for its film studios, Ouarzazate is often called the ‘Hollywood of Morocco’. We will spend the night in a Riad.
Day 5: Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
Marrakech - After breakfast, you will have time to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. Shortly after, we will head to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, built by T-Hami El Glaoui, the warlord who ruled the region. Now considered a UNESCO World Heritage site, we will stop for lunch in the Kasbah. Make sure your phones and cameras are ready because you won’t want to miss some wonderful shots with the Kasbah walls in the background. In the afternoon, we will drive to the Kasbah of Telouet and stop for a visit before continuing to the red city of Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260m in altitude). Finally, we will arrive in Marrakech and conclude our services by dropping you off at your accommodation.
