- Basilica Cistern - The Basilica Cistern was originally constructed to supply water to the Great Byzantine Palace and nearby structures. It had the capacity to hold up to 100,000 tons of water, which was transported through 20 km of aqueducts from a reservoir near Belgrad Forest.
The Basilica Cistern (also known as the Underground Cistern or Yerebatan) is one of Istanbul’s most renowned cisterns. Built during the Byzantine Empire, it fell out of use during the Ottoman Empire and was forgotten for a long period. After its rediscovery and restoration, it has been functioning as a museum since 1988.

Incredible, a dream come true that, although only for a few hours, leaves us wanting to return to this beautiful country. - Pending at all times, making sure that our expectations were aligned with the time available but also experiencing Istanbul as it should be! Burak as a guide was the best, his love for history is contagious!!

Zeki at Manolya tours did a great job - Manolya tours provided our group of 4 with reliable service that included transportation all around, private guides, they arranged activities for us at the last minute based on our preferences and stayed flexible to accommodate when we needed to make a last minute change. Overall, we had a worry free trip and got to experience both Istanbul and Capodoccia in the best way possible.
