After picking up guests from their hotel, the journey will proceed to the northern part of the island. Following the border control, the tour will explore Salamis, established by Teucer in 1180 BC. The next stop is the Monastery of Saint Barnabas. The tour will then continue to the medieval city of Famagusta, where the impressive walls reflect the city’s historic grandeur and its need for defense against enemy attacks. The itinerary includes a visit to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, which was transformed into the mosque of Lala Mustafa Pasha, where many rulers of Cyprus and Jerusalem were crowned during the Lusignan period. Guests will have the chance to stroll through Famagusta’s narrow streets and view the citadel and Othello’s tower from the outside. The tour concludes with a walk through the streets of Varosha, also known as Ghost Town, following the 1974 conflict.
