- Maydoum Pyramid - An Egypt Royal Tours guide will greet guests in the hotel lobby to embark on a journey to the Al Fayoum oasis, a one-and-a-half-hour drive. The first stop is the Maydoum Pyramid, believed to be the second of four pyramids constructed by Snefru after Djoser’s, and possibly initially built for Huni, the last pharaoh of the Third Dynasty, and later completed by Snefru. Due to its unique appearance, it is known as El-Heram El-Kaddaab (false pyramid) in Egyptian Arabic.
The pyramid was constructed in three stages, labeled E1, E2, and E3 by archaeologist Borchardt. E1 was a step pyramid similar to the Djoser Pyramid. E2 involved an extension around the existing structure, approximately 5 meters wide or 10 cubits, increasing the steps from 5 to 7.
The third phase, E3, transformed the original step pyramid into a true pyramid by filling in the steps with limestone casing. Although this method aligns with the design of other true pyramids, Meidum was impacted by a construction error.
- Tunis - Next, visit the charming village of Tunis, located in the Fayoum oasis on the route to Wadi Rayan. Perched on a hill overlooking a large saltwater lake, the village offers a breathtaking view of the desert’s edge across the lake. It is considered one of Egypt’s most beautiful locations.
Until recently, Tunis was an obscure farming and fishing village on the southern shore of Lake Qaroun. Despite its resemblance to countless other Egyptian villages, Tunis possesses a unique charm—small, incredibly beautiful, and surprisingly tranquil. In the late 1960s, a Swiss potter named Evelyn Porret visited Fayoum with Egyptian friends. Upon discovering Tunis, she decided to establish her own country house and pottery workshop there.
- Faiyum Governorate - Proceed to Lake Qarun to observe the stunning birds that flourish at the lake’s edge, including black-necked grebes, ibis, and flamingos.
Afterward, visit Jabal El Madawara, which offers a panoramic view of the lake from its summit. This mountain, approximately 45 million years old, was once part of the ocean and has been shaped by erosion over time.
Then, enjoy lunch before being transferred back to the hotel.
