It is one of the most important fossil sites globally for understanding whale evolution.

Formation: The waterfalls are man-made in origin but naturally formed over time as a result of connecting two lakes (Upper and Lower Wadi El Rayan Lakes) to manage excess agricultural drainage water from the Fayoum Depression.

Height: The waterfalls are not tall but create a beautiful cascade effect, especially during high water flow seasons.
