Highlights
  • Snæfellsnes - After picking you up from the selected pickup point in Reykjavik, we will head towards the western region of Iceland known for its dramatic landscapes - the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
  • Kirkjufell Mountain - Prepare your cameras for the most photographed mountain in the country!
Our first highlight of the day is a 463m-high mountain on the north coast of Iceland’s Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður.
The name Kirkjufell means “Church Mountain” as it is considered to resemble a church.
  • Djupalonssandur Beach - Our next highlight is a sandy beach and bay on the foot of Snæfellsjökull glacier in Iceland.
Your guide will tell you some interesting stories about the fishing village and of shipwrecks that lie on the beach.
  • Budakirkja - Just headed to the east side, we will stop at Búðakirkja, the 19th-century church.
The original church was built in 1703 but, due to a lack of attendees, the church was torn down and rebuilt in 1987.
In recent years this minimalistic building surrounded by mountains and the rough nature of Iceland became a very popular object for photographers, so don’t forget to take a few shots for your gallery there!
  • Arnarstapi - Our next stop is a smaller fishing village Arnarstapi.
We will be able to enjoy the walk on the scenic coastline and the opportunity to visit Miðgjá stone bridge, a natural rock arch off the coast.

Perfect time allowed for each stop, a lot to see! - There was a lot to see, it's a busy trip, but the perfect amount of time was allowed for each stop. The drive itself was very interesting. Our guide, Wolly was excellent. Lots of good information presented in an entertaining way, clearly spoken and loud enough for us all to understand. I think this tour showed Iceland in a different light than the Golden Circle and South Coast tours; you can see the rugged beauty and can appreciate the struggle to settle this country.

Amazing trip - The entire trip was like a trip to another world. The sites selected for us to visit were amazing. Our driver, Dominica, selected a special spot for lunch - Matalist- it was amazing food. We did have an issue that was readily handled - I would recommend the buses are loaded with blankets for emergencies

A great guide/driver made this tour extra special - Our group of 10 friends took a private tour of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in a very comfortable coach. The sites, including two types of seals, dramatic sea cliffs and rock formations, rough oceans, black sand beaches and glacial falls, were spectacular. Our guide, Rebecca, was over-the-top awesome. She provided geological, historical, and saga-based context for everything we were seeing. She also was responsive/adaptable to the differing abilities of the individuals in our group. We were there in March, and the weather went from a little sun, to rain, to ice pellets, snow and an almost total whiteout; but our guide got us safely through the various changes in the environment. Overall a great experience! I feel that having a great guide makes all the difference in these types of excursion.

beautiful landscapes - The views are very beautiful! The sun was just setting at the horizon and therefore the lights were beautiful as we were driving through the snowy landscapes. The stops were beautiful as well and differed from their landscapes. I did not mind the driving between the stops, the landscapes looked beautiful in between and it was worth seeing the important things on the peninsula. Aron was a great guide, he took a cool photo at the Arnarstapi stop. I booked this tour with the 3-day Bucket List Iceland Tour package. We got picked up by an expedition bus, which is great, because the bus is not too big and the group therefore relatively small. It would have been great though, if Arctic Adventures could provide a more specific pick-up time, if possible.

Well worth it! - Guide (Domenica's driving and patter were excellent). Was lucky enough to have stunning weather. Locations were relevant; interesting and sometimes inspiring. Interim landscapes / features pointed out were good. Winter so not so much wildlife around but fulmars were good and probable arctic fox tracks in one area. Am an Iceland Guide myself so was hoping for something good and have 'stolen' some ideas! :)

Don't miss the Snaefellsnes tour from Reykjavik! - The Snaefellsness Peninsula tour is a must-see. I visited during winter and explored Ytri Tunga beach, the charming Búðakirkja, the stunning Arnarstapi cliffs, and Djupalonssandur beach, where I was fortunate to witness two graceful seals swimming in the sea. The landscape is truly incredible and evocative. I highly recommend this day trip with Arctic Adventure!

A long day, but amazing sights - We had an amazing day with Carlos, who was an attentive, engaging and interesting guide who couldn't have been more helpful. Advised us upfront about the long periods to be spent in the (very comfortable) minibus, and told us how long before toilets would be available, when to buy food etc. This was probably longer than I would ideally have liked to spend driving, not least as we had our 11 and 15 year old kids with us, but wifi on board did help! Having said that, was amazing to see a less-travelled side to Iceland. Saw some amazing sights, from black beaches to volcanoes, glaciers to huge cliffs with nesting birds, and for the most part the weather cooperated too. It would have been useful to know ahead of time how limited food options would be, as we could have packed more snacks/lunch with us rather than having to make do from a gas station, but that's a minor detail. Highly recommend this tour, and Carlos is an asset

Andre was the BEST! Thank you! - Andre was AMAZING!!!! he has such a positive/bubbly attitude, made the best of rainy/windy weather, added fun and interesting stops, and gave cool facts the whole time! He went the extra mile by making our tour special despite poor weather conditions!

Very poor service - We are currently in Reykjavík. This tour was booked for today. 30 minutes after we should’ve been picked up, they cancelled the tour without explanation. This left us with no time to book another tour. Totally unacceptable service. We have had an entire day of our holiday wasted. They do not even refund your money automatically. I have had to request a refund, which may take up to 15 days. I would recommend booking your excursions with a different operator.
