Highlights

Day 01: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Piscacucho – Wayllabamba

Cusco-peru- Ollantaytambo - Our service begins in Cusco city, where we will pick you up from your hotel at 06:00 am with our private transportation and staff for this exciting adventure. We will then drive to Ollantaytambo Inca town, arriving around 07:30 am. Here, we will stop for breakfast before continuing our journey to Piscacucho, also known as kilometer 82 (the starting point of the trek).

During this initial part of the hike, the path is quite flat, allowing you to appreciate the archaeological site of Ccanamarka. After approximately 2 hours, we will reach the small village of Miskay. From this point, the path becomes more ascending, and after another half hour, we will arrive at our first archaeological site: Patallacta. Here, our expert guide will provide information about the site before we continue for a few more minutes to reach our lunch spot.

In the afternoon, our hike will take a maximum of 1.5 hours to reach the Wayllabamba community, our campsite. At the end of this first hiking day, you can enjoy a nice hot shower (personal towels needed) and meet our staff members: our chef, cooking assistant, and most importantly, our porters. We will end this first day with some hot beverages and a delicious dinner.

Day 02: Wayllabamba – Llulluchapampa - Pacaymayu

Inca Trail - Our day will start with hot coca tea and a nutritious breakfast to prepare for our hike. First, we will fill our bottles/camelbacks with drinkable water that our chef has already arranged, along with our snacks.

Inca Trail - The first part of the trek involves climbing 2000 Inca steps, which will take approximately 3 hours. During this hike, we will appreciate the lush and dense vegetation with native trees of the area.

Inca Trail - At the campsite, there are restrooms available, and your hot shower will be ready. You will also have some well-deserved leisure time, and if you still have energy, you can do some birdwatching.

We will end this challenging day with some beverages, appetizers, and dinner.

Day 03: Pacaymayo – Runkuracay – Sayacmarka – Phuyupatamarca – Intipata – Wiñayhuayna

Inca Trail - We will wake up to the beautiful sound of birds singing and enjoy a hot coca tea, followed by a delicious breakfast with our staff. We will then start our uphill hike for approximately 45 minutes, arriving at the Runkuracay archaeological site, which has been an Inca checkpoint for over 500 years! After our visit, we will hike another 45 minutes to reach the highest point of the day, Runkuracay Pass, at 3900 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountain forest of Machupicchu National Reserve.

Continuing our hike, we will descend for another hour to reach the Sayacmarka archaeological site. Here, you will have time to explore and learn about its location and history from our guide. We will then continue through cobblestoned paths and tropical forest with humidity and abundant orchid species and wildlife, eventually reaching our lunch spot: Phuypatamarca.

Inca Trail - After our delicious lunch, we will visit one of the most important Inca ritual centers, Phuyupatamarka, where archaeologists discovered Inca mummies of children, suggesting it was a sacrifice center. After our tour, we will descend for another 2.5 hours along Inca steps to finally reach Wiñayhuayna, our last campsite and the final archaeological site before Machupicchu. Once there, our staff will prepare your hot shower and towels, and it will be time to celebrate.

This evening, we will celebrate with a bottle of sparkling wine to mark the completion of the Inca trail. It will also be a time to thank our staff members for their effort and excellent service, as we bid them farewell.

Day 04: Wiñayhuayna – Intipunku – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

Machu Picchu - Today, our motivation is Machupicchu, so we will start very early in the morning to catch the sunrise and see the Sun illuminate Machupicchu.

The first part of the hike will be uphill and downhill for approximately 1 hour until we reach Intipunku, where we will have an impressive view of Machupicchu Historical Sanctuary and Huayna Picchu mountain. We will then descend for another 30 minutes to reach the spot where you can take the famous postcard photo of this wonder.

After the photo session, our clients will have a private guided tour of Machupicchu Sanctuary, lasting approximately 2 hours, with plenty of information provided. After this, clients will have leisure time to explore more of this amazing site. If you have pre-booked tickets for Huayna Picchu mountain or Machupicchu mountain, you can use your free time to complete these hikes, guided by our professional guide.

Aguas Calientes - After your visit, clients will take a bus (included in the tour) to Aguas Calientes town for lunch and some rest before boarding the Expedition class train departing at 16:22 pm to return to Ollantaytambo train station. The trip will take approximately 1.45 hours, and upon arrival, our transfer will be waiting to drive you back to Cusco city and drop you off at your respective hotels.
