- Cromeleque dos Almendres - The starting point for this excursion is the Roman Temple of Évora. From there, participants will enjoy a brief 25-minute drive to the Menir of Almendres, a remarkable solitary standing stone.
Following this, there will be a short drive to the Cromlech of Almendres, often called the Stonehenge of Portugal. At this location, the discussion on the Neolithic period will continue, along with an overview of the theories related to the monument.
Participants will gain insights into the history of this magnificent site from archaeologists who specialize in the prehistory of the region.
There will also be some free time to explore the site.
- Centro Interpretativo dos Almendres - Upon leaving Almendres, there will be an opportunity to visit the gift shop, if it is open.
- Anta Grande do Zambujeiro - The group will reconvene for a 20-minute drive to the next destination, the Great Dolmen of Zambujeiro (Anta Grande do Zambujeiro), an extraordinary prehistoric burial site. This site is notably larger than other dolmens in Portugal and is full of intrigue. The archaeological findings here will be explored.
The return journey to Évora will follow, with drop-offs planned between 12:30-13:00.
