• Danakil Depression - Begin your journey early at 4:00 AM, heading towards Dallol via Berhale. You’ll pass through the small town of Berhale, where camel caravans pause before continuing to the northern highlands. Along the way, you’ll witness numerous camel caravans traveling to the salt mine and others leaving the Danakil with their salt-laden camels.

The vibrant landscapes, shaped by volcanic activity and iron-rich minerals from the Earth’s core, are truly unique. Travel to Ragad (Asebo), where locals mine salt. Observe the process of extracting salt from the ground, cutting it into rectangular pieces, and loading it onto camels. You’ll meet the local Afar and Tigrian people who harvest salt from the dry lake, enduring the intense sun with temperatures often exceeding 50 degrees Celsius (122°F). The Danakil Depression is the hottest place on Earth.

Due to the frequent changes in the Earth’s hot spots, this entire area transforms its appearance every few weeks. Besides the stunning Dallol sulfur fields, you’ll also visit an incredible hole in the salt crust of the lake and Potash Lake.
