memorable - A very personal experience great staff, but the timeline was way off for when we started the trip. The atmosphere the food the entertainment was, especially. I cannot explain. It was a great experience. I will never forget it.

Could have been great but missed the mark. - Picked up at our hotel in Erfoud on time and traveled to Mergouza where we got on the camels. Great trip to the dunes and stopped after about an hour to see the fabulous sunset. Great experience, once in a lifetime. After sunset we proceeded to the camp where we were to have dinner. Great trip, so far. The problems started at the camp. They didn't know we were coming and suggested we may be at the wrong camp, as there are several in the area. We had no contact info for the tour operator. Also, in the Sahara, no data or cell service. Anyway, the camp where we were dropped off at treated us really well and served us a delicious dinner in a secondary tent. The next problem was getting back to Mergouza from the camp. I assumed (wrongly) that the driver that took us to the camels would pick us up after dinner at the camp. Nope. Again, the camp graciously offered to take us back to Mergouza with one of their vehicles. This has to be a thrilling highlight of the trip. A young driver put us in his 4x4 with giant bright lights and gave us a thrill ride across the sand dunes at high speed, up and down dunes in the dark. Halfway across, he turned off the lights to increase our thrill (terror). Obviously this young man has done this a lot and knew what he was doing. We got back to Mergouza and found our driver where he dropped us off earlier. I would have liked to give this trip 5 stars and I was tempted to give only 3. How can a group of Canadians be left in the Sahara Desert at night with no information on how to return? Yes, my bad for making incorrect assumptions. Fun in the Sahara!!! - The camel ride, sand boarding, sunset, food and Berber entertainment were great and unique. There was a bit of a lag time for almost an hour before dinner where we were on our own by the tent and just waiting on what to expect since no one explained the night’s game plan. However, those musicians were entertaining and engaging. Food was the best and our camel guide Mohammed was top notch!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
