Amazingly nice, social and a listening guide. - We had a fantastic time with Silas on our 6 days safari, he planned it so well since we wanted a flying safari he was very keen to our needs. The pick up at the airport and flight Bwindi was good with wonderful green tropical landscapes wow, and the accommodation we were astonished and very pleased for the friendly staffs that were with us all the time. We tracked the gorillas, chimpanzees in kibale forest which were out on top of to do list, the wildlife in queen Elizabeth national park was impressive we liked how the guides really communicate with each other to see what others haven't seen. It was amazing Silas thank you and keep it up. Highly recommended guide and driver.

Top-Notch Tour - Kind, skilled, social and creative guide
As an old couple we wanted something short but interesting and tried many other companies online but later were recommended by a Canadian family friend who traveled with Silas at village of lakes safaris and she insisted we travel with him around Uganda. We followed her recommendations and were never disappointed but couldn't be much happier but enjoy every bit of the safari. Our 6 days were made memorable, we saw the gorillas in bwindi spent quality time with them they are so lovely to see guys. Silas made sure we didn't miss a thing from the tree climbing lions in ishasha to the numerous wildlife especially the elephants and hippos on Kazinga channel we really didn't want to leave this beautiful country and a friendly guide he was too, we can say keep it up young man.
Silas and village of lakes safaris ate highly recommended

Highly recommended and professional - I really don't have much words to express my happiness for the 6 days I had in Uganda. Silas was just amazing and on time to for every activity, booked good lodges for me as a Solo traveler, being around Silas was just fun, social and entertaining to learn so much about his country and his village where we spent more time in queen Elizabeth national park for after the gorillas I wanted more time to explore the crater lakes and hike more in the domestic and cultural setting which I enjoyed so much with Silas and the community guides like Angel who took me for the Batwa visit after tracking gorillas wow. Thank and thank you once again I made a friend in Uganda Silas and village of lakes safaris are highly recommended

High Recommended - Our trip with village of lakes safaris was amazingly great with Silas planning our trip, he handed us to Davis our guide who was so knowledgeable and passionate about his job, we were happy to have the gorilla experience spending 1 hour with these gentle giants was amazing. Davis also stunned us with his wide knowledge on bird species across the different parks with visited not forgetting the tree climbing lions in Ishasha it was worth the wait for they ain't easy to see especially if the weather is not hot. We truly had fun and enjoyed out visit to Uganda for 6 days. Thank you Silas and team for organizing this trip for us and we look forward to seeing you again. Village of lakes is high recommended

Amazing 17 day trip through uganda, thanks to Silas. - Amazing trip, we booked Silas just for the gorilla trekking. But ended up with a two and half week trip. Driving ourselves or with public transport we would never have been able to do the same in this amount of time. We boosted from lake bunyoni, to Bwindi, Rwenzori ( which is amazing and highly recommended) chimp tracking, boat safari in murchison, Kidepo and ended with rafting in Jinja. Silas helps with finding suitable accommodations and places to eat and occasionally very good party places. You have to watch out for his friend Edward with the pink bubble wine, because they party real hard. Altogether is Silas really capable in providing in the trip you want. So we were really happy we were able to travel this way.

A Personalized experience through Uganda - We’ve always wanted to see eastern Africa but were a little intimidated on how to make it happen. Finding Village of Lakes touring company made us ready to take the leap!
We are frequent travelers who usually opt for budget/midrange accommodations so that we can prioritize funding more activites/food/experiences. We rarely book tours but felt in this case that we’d have a much richer, safer and all around easier experience.
From the start, Silas, our guide and owner, was extremely communicative and even offered to have a few FaceTime meetings well in advance to answer any questions and help organize the itinerary best suited to our personal goals. There are lots of touring companies available in Uganda and Rwanda. With Silas and his team you can support a small local business, based in Uganda. He can flex your experience from budget travel to more luxurious accommodations and advise on where to splurge which we very much appreciated.
We toured Uganda and Rwanda for 9 days. Top 4 Highlights of our trip for me include the game drive in Queen Elizabeth Park where we saw so many amazing animals including 7 lions! Seeing the Gorillas in Bwindi was a once in a lifetime experience too. And Lake Bunyonyi was incredibly scenic and relaxing. Last but not least we were able to spend time in smaller lakeside communities that rarely see tourists and warm your heart with their genuine spirit.
In his capable Land Cruiser he skillfully drove us through the incredible terrain from mud 2’ deep to rocky hill climbs and the miles upon miles of dusty dirt roads. Throughout the trip Silas was always open to a chat and answer questions. He is very proud of his country and likes to share that with his guests. When you travel with him you quickly see that he is connected to so many lodge owners, park employees and other guides. This comes in handy as they share tips/information with him that optimizes your experience. And in the end thats what we all want in a touring company: an experience that optimizes your travel time, reveals places you wouldn’t have considered yourself and makes it all as seamless and easy as possible. Thats what you’ll get from Silas and Village of Lakes.

Incredible trip around Uganda & Rwanda with Village of Lakes Safari - We just wrapped up our 6 day Gorilla tracking and wildlife Safari tour in Uganda with our tour guide Silas from Village of Lakes Safari. This was an incredible tour from start to finish.
From the moment I reached out about this tour, Silas responded immediately. No matter what time of day I messaged or what question I asked, he got back to me quickly with a reply. I booked his standard tour on Viator, but after talking with him he was able to customize it to what we wanted to see and do.
Our plan was to do this tour and then fly separately to Kigali. After hopping on the phone and chatting with him about our tour, we realized he’d be able to continue on into Rwanda and coordinate that part of our trip as well. He made planning our two weeks in Eastern Africa simple and stress free.
Now the highlights:
-Silas was our guide for the entire time. He seems to know everyone in Uganda! He met us the night before our tour started and took us to dinner at his family’s lodge in Kampala and discussed the trip. Throughout the trip Silas took us to local restaurants, introduced us to family and friends, and toured us into local areas that I guarantee we’d have missed if we were not on his tour. He coordinated our time in Rwanda, but once there, he also included some local friends and an amazing tour guide Wilson, to make sure we had a great experience there as well.
The roads and driving in Uganda, for an outside viewer, may seem chaotic. But I quickly learned it’s an organized chaos. Silas knew how to manage it well and his Land Cruiser was able to handle any bump, off-road trail, and mountain. I never felt unsafe, Silas maneuvered everything smoothly.
-The animals. I didn’t know what to expect, it was my first time on an African Safari. I knew I wanted to see the Gorillas, everything else was just bonus. Well there was a TON of bonuses! Queen Elizabeth Park was amazing. We saw lions, elephants, hippos, Buffalo, and more all in their natural habitat. We also went Chimp tracking in the Jungle here, which was an incredible experience. Each activity left me thinking, I’d be satisfied if the trip ended here.
But then we saw the Gorillas. What an incredible experience. The opportunity to get so close and see them in their natural habitat was awesome. It was so much more than I ever had expected.
-Hotels/Lodging. We are budget minded travelers, but all of the accommodations were very comfortable and didn’t feel “budget”. Each had their own character, the staffs were so friendly and welcoming and the food was great.
-Food. We asked for local food and Silas delivered. We were able to try so much of the delicious foods from Uganda and Rwanda.
Overall I highly recommend this tour and this company. We were nervous about planning out our time in Eastern Africa and I’m not sure how we got so lucky to find Silas and Village of Lakes Safari. It’s a small local company, Silas is the owner, founder, and tour guide. He should definitely be your first call when you are thinking about visiting Uganda.
