Kampala is home to vibrant markets, including the bustling Nakasero Market at the base of Nakasero Hill, offering fresh produce like eggs, chickens, fish, halal meats, and a variety of colorful vegetables, tubers, and fruits. Don’t miss Kampala’s famous Rolex – not a watch, but a beloved street food made of an egg omelet and vegetables wrapped in a chapatti. Further west, Owino Market sells a wide range of items from food and spices to cookware and secondhand clothing.
For traditional Ugandan souvenirs such as wood carvings, woven barkcloth mats and pots, decorated gourds, musical instruments, leather and sisal baskets, and textiles, visit the Uganda Arts & Crafts Village behind the National Theatre on Buganda Road.
