The Handmade Tea Tour offers three primary experiences, beginning with tea plucking at our tea estate.

Tea Plucking: Start with a tea-picking session, including traditional worship at a nearby kovil. Participants receive a basket and can wear traditional tea plucker attire.
Tea Crafting: Visit a mini facility to see handmade tea crafting, followed by a brief overview of the tea-making process at the factory and the packaging of your selected tea.
Tea Tasting: Enjoy a tea tasting at Sky Cafe.

The tour accommodates up to 6 visitors at a time, with three daily slots:
08:30 AM -10:30 AM
11:30 AM -01:30 PM
and 02:30 PM-04:30 PM (Sri Lankan Time).

All travelers need to come to the Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory to participate in the tours. Please refer to the Google location and proceed to the Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory. Once there, please visit Sky Cafe to purchase the ticket.

Tea making tour in Ella - Great experience, 2h tour that really helped us understand how is tea grown, harvested and produced. One of the best things we've done in Ella. Our guide, Lahiru was great as well, spoke really good English and told us a lot about the entire process and answered all of our questions. The tour finishes with a tasting of a tea that we made ourselves which was great. Highly recommended!

An amazing tea-Tour, one of the best tours I've ever been on - We had a wonderful experience at the Hale Tea Factory. We did the handmade tea tour and would recommend it to everyone. First we got to pick the tea leaves with the help of Muruga, who was very friendly. Then we went on to making our own tea which was an amazing experience. During the time the tea was drying, our knowledgable guide Lahiru gave us a very insightful tour of the factory and explained to us how much work is put into a single cup of tea. Afterwards, we tasted some varieties of black tea and, of course, our own creations. Altogether, we had an amazing visit at the tea factory.

Super! - Have learned a lot about tea! The tour is definitely worth it opposite the 10$ tours. Lahiru studied “tea” and has a lot of knowledge and could explain great.

Make your own tea... - The two-hour tour with Lahiru was informative and fun. There were three of us and we were given comprehensive information, from theory to practice. We had the opportunity to pick tea leaves ourselves and made our own tea manually under supervision. It turned out very tasty. We were also shown the process of making tea using the machines. Thank you, it was a great tour.
