• Citadel of Salah El Din - Guests will be picked up from their hotel by our knowledgeable tour guide and taken to the Citadel of Salah El Din in Cairo. Here, they will visit the Mohamed Ali Mosque, renowned as one of the most beautiful mosques in Cairo. It is also known as the Alabaster Mosque due to its exterior walls being covered in Alabaster Stone.
• Al-Rifa’i Mosque - This famous mosque, Al-Rifa’i Mosque, is situated opposite the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, dating back to around 1361. It was designed to complement the older structure as part of a 19th-century campaign by Egypt’s rulers to link themselves with the glory of earlier Islamic periods and modernize the city.
• Mosque and Madrasa of Sultan Hassan - Known as one of the largest mosques in Cairo, the Sultan Hassan Mosque, also referred to as Madrasa El Sultan Hassan, was established by Sultan Hassan in 1356 A.D. This massive Mamluk-era mosque and madrassa is located near The Citadel in Cairo. Construction began in 757 AH/1356 CE and concluded three years later “without even a single day of idleness.” At the time, the mosque was notable for its impressive size and innovative architectural features. Commissioned by a sultan with a brief and relatively unimpressive profile, al-Maqrizi noted several “wonders of construction” within the mosque, including schools for all four Sunni schools of thought: Shafi’i, Maliki, Hanafi, and Hanbali.
• Al-Azhar Mosque - Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, also known as the mosque of the most resplendent, is located in Islamic Cairo, Egypt. Al-Mu’izz li-Din Allah of the Fatimid Caliphate commissioned its construction for the newly established capital city in 970. Its name is believed to reference the Islamic prophet Muhammad’s daughter Fatimah, a revered figure in Islam, who was given the title az-Zahrā, meaning the shining or resplendent one. It was the first mosque established in Cairo, a city now known as “the City of a Thousand Minarets.”
• Hani Siblini Music - El Hussein Mosque in Cairo is a revered mosque believed to be the burial site of the head of the prophet Muhammad’s grandson.
