Many visitors leave with their own theory but all are amazed. The short walk through the glen to ancient Roslin Castle is also fascinating.
- Melrose Abbey - Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Melrose. The stunning ruined Abbey is the final resting place of King Robert the Bruce’s heart.
- Carter Bar - Cross the ancient Scotland/England border at Carter Bar, a wonderful viewpoint in the Cheviot Hills.
- Housesteads Roman Fort - Hadrian’s Wall - Hadrian’s Wall is the best-known frontier of the Roman Empire and a magnificent reminder of one of the world’s greatest civilisations. Built almost 2000 years ago to contain the fierce Picts in Caledonia it stretches for 73 miles and was designated a World Heritage Site in 1987. You stop at Housesteads Fort in Northumberland National Park, the best preserved Roman fort along Hadrian’s Wall. Here you’ll enjoy a nature walk along one of the most dramatic and photographed stretches of the wall.
- Jedburgh Abbey - On route back to Edinburgh, you will stop in the Border market town of Jedburgh to stretch your legs and for photos of the famous Abbey.

Wonderful day filled with great sites and guide - First off - Roddy made this tour a better than 5 star experience. He was kind, thoughtful, knowledgable- helping us learn in a fun way … oh and great driver too! Next, pace and elements selected and time for visits was perfect. We never felt rushed anywhere. The combination of the historical sites provided a very good picture of Scottish and English border history when combined with Roddy’s narrative. Definitely recommend!! Can’t wait to do another tour with Heart of Scotland.

Amazing tour of Rosslyn, Melrose Abbey, and Hadrian’s Wall - What an amazing tour! Had Euan as our driver and guide - extremely knowledgeable about the country, its people, and its history. Loved hearing his narration and stories as we drove between the three locations on the tour. Further, he had a playlist of songs for the way south that helped us understand some of the history through the lyrics. On the way north we had bus trivia! It was an exceptional day, filled with amazing sightseeing, narrated by the perfect guide! Would definitely do tours through this company again, requesting Euan.

Our tour guide Roddy was... - Our tour guide Roddy was excellent. He engaged with all the tour members as needed and made sure to offer to take group photos whenever possible. It's a great day trip to have a chance to head south from Edinburgh and hit some highlights.

It’s the Wee Red Bus - It was a very good tour and our bus driver made it even more so. She was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. I also loved her music play list Very well coordinated

Wonderful Day! - Incredible tour - and we had the most amazing guide. He is a wealth of knowledge which he willingly shared to make this full day experience extra special! We told him he needs to write a book - he is that good! And the sights - well, you can’t put a price on history like this. Well worth our time and money!

top notch guide - Mike was a charming, knowledgeable guide who provided just the right balance of historical information and personal stories. His van was well-maintained, his driving excellent and he had us back at the hotel on time. All good. We'd use him again for other tours.

Loved the trip! I... - Loved the trip! I especially enjoyed the commentary from our guide, he was wonderful. I signed on for the trip for Hadrian’s wall but I enjoyed Rosslyn Chapel the most. The Roman road portion was, as they say, very straight, and as a consequence full of ups and downs. If you have a tendency to motion sickness, a Dramamine before the journey might be wise.

Extraordinary experience. - We loved the places we visited, pity there was no longer time to enter Jedburgh, it looks spectacular.

Poor directions - The trip started badly because the starting point printed on the down-loaded ticket was not specific to where the meetup was. Carolyn was supremely helpful in helping us catch up to the tour, telling us to use a cab to catch up with our tour guide Euan. The cab fare was covered by Euan ( thank you Euan). And all went well. Specific directions must be printed on the ticket page. Waterloo place has 4 possible corners but we were directed to a bus cue up the road on the actual website which we were unable to access. Via tours was very helpful in our exploring of Scotland and Ireland.
