Highlights
  • Falkland - The stand-in for Inverness and the location of Claire & Frank’s honeymoon.

  • Royal Burgh of Culross - Culross – Various parts of Culross are used to represent the village of Cranesmuir, mainly in season 1 of Outlander. Notably, the Mercat Cross (situated in the center of Culross) is where Geillis Duncan’s house is located, where Jamie frees the young thief pinned to the post, and where Geillis is taken to be burned for witchcraft. In season 4, Briana encounters Laoghaire and Joanie near the Mercat Cross while seeking passage to America. Joanie and Briana are seen tending a garden outside a house close to the Mercat Cross, though the interior of Laoghaire’s home is depicted by the nearby Culross Palace.

  • Blackness Castle - Blackness Castle – This 15th-century fortification is known as ‘The ship that never sailed’ due to its unique boat-like shape. Explore the castle’s rich history and learn about its various roles as a lordly residence, garrison fortress, and state prison. Outlander fans will recognize the exterior as Fort William, the ominous headquarters of Black Jack Randall.

  • Linlithgow Palace - Linlithgow Palace – These impressive ruins were the birthplace of several monarchs, most notably Mary Queen of Scots. The foreboding shell of Linlithgow Palace dates back to the 12th century and serves as the set for the infamous Wentworth Prison in Outlander, where Jamie was imprisoned and tortured by Black Jack Randall. This location also appears in the 2018 blockbuster movie ‘Outlaw King’ about Robert The Bruce. The Palace is centrally located in Linlithgow, offering plenty of lunch options.

  • Midhope Castle - Midhope Castle – We conclude our Outlander Experience tour with a photo opportunity at one of the series’ most iconic sets. This modest 16th-century tower house is Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser’s home. Any Outlander fan will recognize the archway entrance. While visitors cannot enter the castle, Jamie’s beloved Lallybroch remains a must-see photo spot, completing your Outlander Experience.

Outlander day trip - Ian was a great tour guide, showing all sorts of Outlander knowledge and stories of the sheep-sheep. Only sad thing was that we didn’t get to see Jamie as promised 😔

Excellent tour - Hi! I went on this tour on July 25th with Jean, and we had a great time. We received a lot of information during the tour, both about "Outlander" and Scottish history in general. This was very educational, especially with the various stops. We stopped at all the agreed-upon locations, and we were given plenty of time to explore Midhope Castle (Lallybroch), which we greatly appreciated. I can highly recommend this tour. -Cathrine and Daniel

Outlander One Day Tour - A must do for all Outlander fans.Grayline were the tour company and Brendan was the tour guide and driver. Brendan was an excellent guide and very humorous in his approach.Unfortunately he had to contend with bad weather but tried his best to work around the situation. He was a wealth of knowledge and tried to involve the passengers along the way. Many of the sites used in the shooting of the series were included in the tour. Lallybroch was the obvious icon highlight and the weather improved at this last stop in the tour to be able to take some very picturesque photos.I definate recommend for all Outlander fans and even others who would like some historical perspective on lesser known castles in the Scottish countryside.
