- The Cumberland Bar - You will be welcomed to a bespoke micro distillery room where you will receive a gin and tonic on arrival. Guests will be allowed to settle in with a run through of the outline of the class. Each guest will then try three different gin tasting samples and then design their own bespoke gin recipe from the available ingredients….

Each guest will then try three different gin tasting samples and then design their own bespoke gin recipe from the available ingredients. Guests will then use an individual mini copper still to distill their chosen ingredients to produce a 500ml (50cl) bottle of gin to take home with them. While their gin is distilling they will enjoy a cocktail and once their gin has been distilled, they will taste their newly made gin before bottling, labelling, naming and wax sealing their end product to take away with them.

Learn, laugh, make and enjoy quaffing - This wasn’t just an experience, it was an education - like going to school, it infinitely better because you want to be there, and your “teacher” clearly knows was happy to be there, too.
Neil is generous with his time, wisdom, wit and humour. Gin master, performer extraordinaire, and not surprisingly a rather splendid barman.
I was initially overwhelmed by all the tidy rows of herbs, spices and dried fruits but Neil expertly and seamlessly guides you through the history and the construction of a gin that isn’t just good but the best.
The more questions the better, and if you’re lucky you’ll get a special high five for a particularly appreciated question (the equivalent of the Hollywood Handshake!).
If only science at school had been based on the model of this excellent afternoon, I might be doing a more exciting and worthy career. Instead I’ll just continue to commiserate at the end of each working day with a gin that I will proudly bore my friends with (they can look, sniff but they’ll have to be truly worthy of a sip!).

A great afternoon making our own gin! - We had a brilliant afternoon with Neil. He was so knowledgable about gin and we learned a lot. His delivery was engaging and humorous. It was such a great experience making our own gin, and he was perfect at being helpful whilst giving us the freedom to experiment during that process. The afternoon flew by! It was fantastic value for money. Would recommend this to any gin-loving couples or friends!

Absolutely excellent experience! - Neil was an excellent and entertaining guide for this fabulous experience. Not only did I get to walk away with a bespoke bottle of gin, I had a wonderful time learning about gin styles, history, and the characters of various brands and categories. I learned a lot and will encourage any friends and family who enjoy gin and cocktails to give this a go. If I was staying in Edinburgh longer, I would alsolutely do the rum experience. If you don't drink or have an aversion to gin, this experience won't appeal to you. I booked my experience via Viator.

My Best Viator Experience Yet! - Neil was an excellent and entertaining guide for this fabulous experience. Not only did I get to walk away with a bespoke bottle of gin, I had a wonderful time learning about gin styles, history, and the characters of various brands and categories. I learned a lot and will encourage any friends and family who enjoy gin and cocktails to give this a go. If I was staying in Edinburgh longer, I would absolutely do the rum experience.

Bonza experience - highly recommended - Brilliant afternoon with Neil. Knows his stuff and presents it brilliantly. So we learned a lot and laughed a lot. Time flew by. Oh and yes we got to try some great gins and distill our own masterpieces. All enabled and steered by Neil’s wisdom - thank you mon brave!

A one of a kind, humorous and educational experience - Neil, our host, had a palpable passion for gin and the art of distillation, you could tell that this is something he loved and the energy he bought to the experience was contagious. It was educational, funny, and intimate. Neil has a deep understanding of gin and guided us through the various flavour profiles and botanicals used. When choosing our botanicals and distilling our gin Neil coached and assisted us with flavour pairings while ensuring we were still taking the lead to make something we loved. The learning was made extra fun through skits and jokes in Neils unique style of humor, he's passionate and professional but doesn't take himself too seriously, making a relaxed and banterous atmosphere. If you are after a hands on, unique experience with a knowledgeable and whitty host, then I highly recommend going, it was one of the most memorable and engaging days out we have had.

Amazing experience! - This was an experience like no other! Neil is such a great storyteller, and he has so much knowledge about flavors, gin, and history that he shares with a great bit of humor!
