Worthwhile day trip from Tirana - When planning my holiday to Albania, I booked this trip to see Durres, Berat and Belsh lake. As it happened, I was alone on the trip with the guide. This allowed for great flexibility. My guide was Indrit, and he had a huge amount of information on the locations I visited. Since I was the only client on the trip, there was flexibility on when to eat, and I given a choice of eating fast food or local albanian food for lunch. In the end, I opted for the restaurant serving Albanian food. If I was planning a trip to Albania, and wanted to do sightseeing outside of Tirana, I would recommend this tour.

A great day with our most informative and friendly guide Idrid. - Durres was interesting to visit, especially the Roman ruins. But Berat was definitely the highlight of the day. Such a beautiful old town with so much history, and a spectacular old castle.

Highly recommended day activity - This is a excellent full day trip our tour guide Nick was very knowledgeable and friendly It’s a good way if you want to explore different areas, Durres is a calmer seaside resort, while Berat is a UNESCO heritage city with a rich history. We had time to explore the city at Our own pace. We were happy with service provided by the agency too, as we were picked up from our accommodation the agency contacted couple of days before the activity to confirm pick up time

A taste of Albania - We had an excellent day tour to Durres, Berat and Belsh. Our tour guide Adi, was very kind, considerate, very knowledge, and had good English. We would highly recommend this tour for a taste of Albania. From the Mediterranean Seaside resort to beautiful countryside of rolling hills and mountains. Berat is a wonderful historical city.

Nice Tour - Long but lovely day see some of the Albanian countryside and castles. Not for the faint of heart, or anyone subject to heat stroke when it's over 20C. Very pleasant tour guide, but his command of English was iffy, so it seemed we weren't getting very much information. I did enjoy his personal stories about life in Albania back during the Soviet era.

Tour of Betsy, Durres - How To Improve the Itinerary - The guide really tried his best and followed the tour company’s itinerary. He like other guides were either working 2 jobs to make a living or studying and working part-time. That is not so much the issue if they are given proper training. I feel for them trying their best in the circumstances. He like the other guides we had for historical or tourist sights were all relatively new in their jobs and could really benefit from more professional training. The tour companies charged a premium for private tours for 3 of our tours booked on Viator but we felt it was not good value for money. The problem is not so much with the guides but with the tour companies maybe wanting to make more money seizing on the increase in tourism but lacking experience on how to provide a truly great experience for international tourists! But we understand the country is applying to join the EU and is in transition so still trying its best to improve its standards. A lot more improvements need to be made not just by the tour companies but better roads to reduce the time spent on travel and giving tourists more comfortable rides. When we booked private tours in other European countries the drivers were professional and drove good German cars which felt safer and gave a more comfortable ride. The roads need to be improved but again the country is slowly trying to upgrade. There should be some formal institution to train guides to explain the country’s rich and complex history, culture etc in good English and other languages. This will ensure consistent quality and professionalism. If I organized this tour, I would have started with Berat as it is the main historical and cultural show case, not to mention numerous well known vineyards in the area such as Cobo Katina. There could be an optional wine tasting tour which I was told costs 18€ per person. Apart from giving more time to Berat, there should be good recommendations for restaurants with a range of prices, preferably good views to suit the varying needs of the tourists. It cannot be too difficult as even googling gives you many options. Then after that do Durres - just 1-2 hours should be sufficient as the main thing here is the Roman ruins and a view of the port. As for the lake, it’s nothing much, except to drive past or for a short break & coffee stop. Albania has a lot to offer but the offerings need to be improved if it wants to receive more tourists esp now many are well travelled and have higher expectations. Beaches are not as good as those say in other parts of Europe like Greece, Croatia, Italy or Spain. Instead play on the uniqueness of the history, culture, food, wines and amazing mountains and beautiful scenery! We tipped our guides not because all of them gave great service but knowing in an economy in transition and how hard the people have to work for a living, an encouragement to them to continue to improve and work hard - everyone needs to start somewhere and be given a chance.

Avoid this tour company - This tour operator sent me a text at 1am on the same day asking to postpone the tour. I suggest booking with another tour operator or to go with the other tour app.
