- Durres Amphitheatre - Our guide will pick you up at the hotel in Tirana at the appointed time. Then you will depart for the city of Durres. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. The first stop in the ancient city of Durres is the Amphitheatre, a Roman structure located in the city center. Construction began under Emperor Trajan in the 2nd century B.C. and it was twice destroyed by earthquakes in the 6th and 10th centuries. This amphitheater was used for gladiator matches.
- Byzantine Forum (Macellum) - Next, you will visit another historical site. The Byzantine Forum is situated in the center of Durrës, as it was in the ancient city of Dyrrah. It occupied a central position among other significant public and religious buildings of the Byzantine era. Built at the end of the 6th century during the reign of Roman Emperor Anastasios (481-518), the forum is also known as the Byzantine Market Square (Tregu Bizantin). Originally, it was described as a traditional open market complex from Roman times.
- Durres - Afterward, we will explore the center of Durres. Here, you will see buildings constructed along the roadside during the reign of King Zog, including the Italian-style town hall, the mosque, and structures from the Communist era as well as the democratic period, reflecting the city’s historical evolution.
- Venetian Tower - Next, you will visit the Venetian Tower, one of the most fascinating and beautiful historical defensive structures in Durrës. It is part of the Byzantine Wall that protected the old city.
- Durres Archaeological Museum - Following that, you will visit the Archaeological Museum, which houses some of Albania’s most treasured prehistoric and ancient artifacts. Beautifully located by the seaside promenade, the museum offers a journey through the rich history of this significant coastal city and the entire country.
- Golem - Then, you will leave the city of Durres and head to Golem Beach. You will start with a seafood lunch at one of the best restaurants in the area. Afterward, you can enjoy the sun and swim in the sea. If you wish, you can also take a boat trip and participate in various sports activities. Golem Beach is sandy, which is beneficial for rheumatism, and the sea is shallow, making it a favorite for families with children and groups of young people who want to swim and play sports in the sea and on the sand.
