Best stargazing tour ever - The Southern Skies Stargazing tour was amazing! Despite the cloud and full moon, we had the most enjoyable time hearing about Maori mythology and creation stories from our guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the constellations and stories from her background making this a sensitive and unique experience. We were firstly picked up from our holiday park and driven to our stargazing spot where we were sat down in some amazing, reclining chairs, tucked in all nice and snuggly with a sleeping bag and blanket and then given a lovely snack box and hot chocolate. We had a fantastic time listening to our guide and had really interesting conversation about their other work in supporting indigenous groups from around the world . We would highly recommend this tour if you want a culturally interesting and well led tour of the night sky. And even if the weather isn't on your side, you'll be guaranteed a great evening amongst new friends!

Stunning skies - Such an amazing experience with Kylie on our tour. The viewing location was stunning, as we drove away from the cloudy city, the skies above Hoopers inlet turned it on for us! We were cosy and comfortable while our whānau learnt about our Southern Sky and how Māori viewed the night sky while spotting satellites & shooting stars. Thank you x

Don't miss out on this magical experience! - We give our very highest, 5 stars, thumbs up rating to Kylie's Southern Skies Stargazing Tour in Dunedin. Kylie is an absolutely wonderful host and storyteller. From the moment she picked us up at our hotel and drove us out to our stargazing spot out away from town, we felt pampered, safe, and cared for like family. We loved the peaceful, tranquil setting. Kylie set up reclining chairs for us and tucked us in with blankets, a scrumptious snack box, and warm drinks like coffee and hot cocoa. As we waited for the skies to clear, Kylie regaled us with both the science and the Maori legends of the stars and the creation of the universe, pointing out constellations and planets with her laser pointer. Kylie is a captivating storyteller with a gorgeous singing voice. We were lucky that the skies eventually cleared and we were treated to a stunning view of the southern night sky and the Milky Way, but we would have been happy with the experience even if the skies had remained cloudy. Please don't miss out on this wonderful experience. Thank you Kylie!

Full refund given after tour cancelled due to weather - Our tour was cancelled the morning of the tour due to expected cloud cover that evening, and because of a problem with my credit card they came to our hotel and gave us the refund in cash. We appreciated their honesty in cancelling and we hope to take this tour on another visit to Dunedin!

Wonderful experience - Our guide was amazing and, even though there was no Aurora Australis, the sky was clear and the stars were everywhere! We learned a lot about the Māori history and navigating by the stars. Overall, excellent experience!

Magical 🪄 - Amazing! What an awesome experience. Kylie's knowledge and passion for the night sky is outstanding. Pair this with fantastic story telling interweaving the stars with a maori cultural narrative and you're set. The comfort factor was also esquisite 👌 From the all-the-way-back chairs to being tucked into blankets and fed delights including artisanal snacks, a cheeseboard and hot drinks. How good! On our night the clouds and moon weren't playing ball but it really didn't matter. I'd go in the day 😁

Prepare for this to be cancelled and refunded, very weather dependent. - If you only have 3-4 nights in Dunedin, book this for your first night and have a contingency plan (another activity you could do in it's place) ready, so that if they cancel and move it to another day or refund you, you could try to catch it on another day before going home or do something else with the time, I wanted to see it so paid $450 to move my flights and $150 to add an extra night accommodation to try go see the stars but then the weather cancelled it and they refunded instead... The night the weather was bad in Dunedin, it was good in every state of Australia and some other city in New Zealand and tonnes of amazing photos were posted on social media by others, just to rub our bad luck in haha So definitely book for the first or second night of your trip, to try to have it moved to another night before you leave if you can in case of bad weather.
