Amazing experience! - We had an amazing experience! Our tour guide, Mr. Shafat, is engaging and outgoing. Mr. Shafat captured our unique experience by taking amazing videos and pictures of everyone in our group with the sunset as the backdrop. We were truly impressed with his skills. Mr. Shafat gave us his phone to play music in the vehicle while dune bashing. We danced the night away like in our 20s, “You know hips don’t lie.” One of our inexperienced drivers had a little accident during the quad bike ride. Thankfully, it was nothing more than a swollen ankle, sore shoulder, and bruised ego. Lol. The BBQ dinner was tasty, and the show performance was outstanding. We highly recommend Wellcare Tourism and Mr. Shafat as the tour guide.

Know before you go!!! - My son and I signed up for a four hour tour of the desert. The description specifically included ATV or dune buggy rides through the desert, Dune, bashing, dune surfing, and a 10 minute camel ride through the desert. There were other options to sign up for a barbecue dinner in the desert and watching some local dancers perform. My son and I absolutely did not want to do that as it was more than six hours, and we preferred to eat in Dubai as it was our last night there. Our tour was due to start at 2:30 and would last approximately four hours. Our driver Sayed messaged me around one and asked if we could be picked up at two instead of 230. My son and I were ready so we said yes. Sayed asked my name upon pick up as I had booked the tour and he needed to confirm who I was. He did not introduce himself nor did he ask my son’s name. He didn’t make any kind of attempt to understand who we were or where we were from. He had no idea that we were a mother and son team traveling together. After he picked us up, he told us there were four more people joining us. He then told us that he had asked them to be picked up at two and they refused. It would’ve been much more efficient for them to be picked up first and then us as we were closer to getting on the highway to the desert. However, we accommodated. When he got to the pick up spot, the people were not ready. After a few minutes two men came out. We waited another 10 minutes and then two women came out and got into the car. We headed for the desert. When we got there, my son and I did a dune buggy ride, which was terrific! It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed every bit of it. They did have some guy come running out once you stopped with a falcon on his shoulder. And then he charged you extra to take pictures with the falcon. I did not want my picture taken with the falcon however he put the falcon on my shoulder and then when we were done, he asked for more money. That’s the one thing you have to be very careful of. Upon arrival, I had a scarf and a hat. But one of the guys came running up and draped, a traditional desert scarf over my head and wrapped it and tied it. And then I had to pay for it. It all happens very quickly and you have to be prepared for that. After the dune buggy, Sayed took us dune bashing, which was fun. The car drives at a high rate of speed back-and-forth throughout the dunes. Then we Used a snowboard type device to go down the dunes. That was OK. Then he took a whole bunch of pictures in the desert. And he did a good job with that. Once we were finished, I began asking about my camel ride through the desert. The other members of our group were from India and Sayed was from Pakistan. They were talking fluently between themselves , but there was a lot that we didn’t understand at all. As we were leaving the dunes, there were a number of beautiful camels in a corral walking around and I asked for my camel ride again. I did not get an answer and Sayed pulled out onto the highway. One of the other members of the group said that I could write a camel in the camp. I was confused as to what the camp was and why we were headed there. It was time to get back to the city. In another 10 minutes, we pulled into a camp with fake turf on the ground and a stage in the middle and some barbecue food set up around the edges. I told him this was not part of our tour and we did not want to do this. At this point it was more than four hours that we had been gone and we wanted to get back as we had dinner plans in Dubai. Instead, he told me this was part of the package. I had already paid for it and we might as well stay and enjoy the food and the show. He finally brought me to another area where there were two overworked camels, and a crowd of 50 people standing around. He brought me and my son to the front. We got up on the camel went around in a circle and got off the camel. It was something I could’ve done in a petting zoo. I was extremely disappointed. Sayed then brought his boss over and asked me to speak to his boss and give him a really good review. I felt very uncomfortable as I was trapped and had to ride back to Dubai with him. I assured his boss that Syed was doing a great job. We stayed for another 45 minutes or so, and had a little bit of the food. And watched some dancing. Luckily the other people in the party wanted to get back as well so we were able to leave before the show ended. My four hour tour lasted close to seven hours. I thought it was completely unprofessional that Syed did not know which tour we had signed up for nor did he follow any of the guidelines that we wanted for the tour. The camel ride was supposed to be the highlight of this tour. Instead, it was a huge disappointment. I would caution anyone who takes any kind of a tour in Dubai to make sure they know what they’re getting. I would specifically ask the guide to go through the tour before you leave. This would eliminate any misunderstandings or miscommunications. I would recommend parts of this tour, but certainly this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve had tremendously good experiences with the Viator and TripAdvisor prior to this. So this was very disappointing.
