The Curragh Plains - The Curragh is one of Europe’s oldest and most extensive areas of semi-natural grassland, existing for over two thousand years. It is possibly the only landscape of its kind globally, featuring a largely unenclosed flat to gently rolling plain covering 4,870 acres. Following the 1921 treaty, the land transitioned from the Crown to the Minister for Finance and later to the Minister for Defence, managed by the Department’s Property Management Branch under the Curragh of Kildare Acts.

Doolin Cave - The Great Stalactite!
Discovered by British caving students in the early fifties, the cave became a popular spot for visiting potholers eager to see the Great Stalactite. In the 1990s, John and Helen Browne purchased the cave and surrounding land. Over the years, the family has worked diligently to develop the cave into one of North Clare’s top attractions, sharing its wonders with a broader audience. Due to the stalactite’s delicate nature, utmost care was taken during development to minimize environmental impact. The tunnels were meticulously dug by hand, without explosives, and the cave was enlarged using the slow and careful ‘plug and feather’ method. After this labor of love, Doolin Cave opened to visitors in 2006.

O’Brien Ferries Doolin - The Cliffs of Moher boat tour departs from Doolin Pier, offering a sea-level view of these breathtaking cliffs. Passengers will enjoy stunning views of the Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands, and The Burren while boarding at Doolin Pier.
