Highlights
  • Castello di Donnafugata - Our journey begins at the “Castello di Donnafugata,” depicted as the residence of local boss Don Balduccio Sinagra in the series.
  • La Casa del Commissario Montalbano - Next, we head to Punta Secca (known as Marinella in the series) to view Montalbano’s house from the outside and the nearby sandy beach where he swims.
  • Donnalucata - We then proceed to Donnalucata, the primary setting for the episode “The Shape of Water.” The promenade of Donnalucata, referred to as Marinella in the series, serves as the main backdrop for this episode and is featured in many other episodes of The Inspector Montalbano.
  • Centro storico di Scicli - World Heritage Site - Our next stop is the baroque village of Scicli. Here, we take a short walk to explore the stunning baroque historical center (known as Montelusa in the series), including “Palazzo Comunale” (the City Hall), which serves as Vigata’s police station in the series, and “Palazzo Iacono,” the police headquarters.
  • Antica Dolceria Bonajuto - We continue to Modica, whose historical center is also in Baroque style. The beautiful staircase of Saint George’s Cathedral was featured in the episode “Tocco d’artista.” The town’s scenic views, baroque churches and palaces, and charming alleys provide the backdrop for many other scenes in the series. A must-visit at the end of the tour is the Antica Cioccolateria Bonajuto, where you can taste the famous and delicious Modica Chocolate in its various flavors.
  • Ragusa Ibla - Our final stop is the stunning Piazza Duomo of Ragusa Ibla, with its baroque Church of San Giorgio, representing the main square of Vigata, the fictional village of Montalbano.

The view of Ibla with the illuminated dome of the Cathedral appears behind Montalbano in the episode “A Blade of Light,” when the Commissioner, as a guest of Vigata Rete Libera, gives an interview.

The Cathedral of San Giorgio and the square of Ragusa Ibla are featured in many episodes of the TV series. Whenever the Commissioner stops in the central square or the Church of Madre di Vigata, we admire the superb baroque style of Ragusa Ibla, its square, and the Duomo.

The church of Santa Maria delle Scale, the staircase, and the magnificent panorama of Ragusa Ibla serve as the backdrop to a mugging scene in the episode “Gatto e Cardellino.”

The Circolo di Conversazione, overlooking Piazza Duomo, is where Montalbano often interrupts Dr. Pasquano’s card games. Many scenes are filmed inside and outside the Circle. In the episode “La Luna di Carta,” the Commissioner enters the smoky rooms of the Club, filled with Vigata’s notables and wealthy individuals playing cards, and meets the annoyed Pasquano, who responds to Montalbano’s questions with fake courtesy and ironic jokes.

The Giardino Ibleo is located near the restaurant Da Calogero. In Vigata, the municipal garden becomes an elegant nursing home where Montalbano visits in the episode “La Luna di Carta.” In the tree-lined garden paths, the Commissioner meets an old thief who shows him a key, asking what it might open.

Los Lugares del Comisario Maontalbano - Emblematic places of a cult series such as El Coimisario Montalbano. Too bad I was closing (apparently definitely) the restaurant Enzo a Mare location next door a few meters from the house, which is where Salvo used to have lunch with a good wine. Mur near there is Scili where the commissioner is.-

Excellent value - We had a superb day We booked a private tour for 3. Our guide Ricardo was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful especially in accommodating my elderly mother. This was a full day's outing and we saw everything we’d hoped to see, all in great comfort. More than happy to recommend and thank you again, Ricardo.

A perfect day out for any Inspector Montalbano fan! - A brilliant excursion with an amazing and safe driver (thanks Giuseppe!) who was friendly, knowledgeable about the locations and great company for the day. We had a fantastic experience - the highlight has to be the set of the Police Station in Scicli's city hall which we weren't expecting to be accessible. Montalbano's house in Punta Secca is a close second however and we loved the seafront in Donnalucata that all fans will recognise. Thank you!

exceptional guide and trip - Big fan of the series. I saw his house, ate in his restaurant of choice and visited his place of work together with breathtaking scenery and towns in between. As an oldie, alone with limited walking ability my guide was exceptional and he excelled in his ability to enable access to everywhere and was very patient and informative, if i could give more stars I would.

A tour for the fans - Great tour for Montalbano fans. We visited the police station, the towns from the opening scenes, Montalbano's apartment, the castle where he met with the crime boss, and ate at the restaurant that was Montalbano's favorite! All in a day - a quite a long day. Our guide Giuseppe was courteous, professional and knowledgeable, and thanks for picking us up in Taormina. It was a long drive! Highly recommended.

Calling All Montalbano Fans - We did a Montalbano tour from Catania with a group called Lemon Tours. Four of us onus a driver and a guide so we really did have personal service. We went from Catania to the main Montalbano filming sites in Scicli( say Vigata), Ragusa, Donnafugata and Punto Seca( Salvo's house and beach). Almost 9 hours altogether and a bit of a bore to start because it takes two hours to get to the first location - but after that it was a dream of a trip.

Commissionario Montalbano and More. - Our private taxi journey of more than 9 hours took us around all the major locations used in the TV series. Our driver Ricardo, was very knowledgeable both of the TV series and Sicilian life. In our journey we touched upon about every subject of modern Sicily as well as the history with Greek, Roman and Arab heritage. This tour is not just a change to experience the sets and locations used in the 1990s series, it's a chance to see inside Sicilian life. We thoroughly recommend it.

Montalbano tour locations are great, the tour company is trash. - Montalbano tour and the locations visited are great especially for the series fans. Our tour car was not the expected one. It was the second time in three days that they took us with the same emergency car. First Syracuse tour and secondly Montalbano tour. We asked for partial refund because we were not happy with the car. The owner of the tour company said that the type of the car was not written in the booking and therefore we didn’t had the right for refund. We accepted his remarks and still told him that this was not our expectation. The tour guide Riccardo was OK. Later on the tour company owner approached us while he was servicing other customers in the same tour route with a luxury car and started to shouting at us and stating that he is preferring American tourists and not tourists like us without knowing even our nationality. We said to him that we are still in disagreement with him about our the car type and we will continue the tour since we didn’t had any other option. The tour owner continued angrily shouting. I think this tour company should be deleted from Viator system and the owner should pass an anger management course and stop discriminating people because of their nationalities.
