Fabulous - Excursion very complete. The friendly and patient guide with the group. The boat ride, the open cart and the very nice horseback ride. Highly recommended!

A GREAT TRIP! - This was a great trip! Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and a huge storm hit us during the boat ride, but the staff made sure we were safe and added an extra level of excitement. The waterfall was the highlight, definitely worth seeing and swimming there is amazing! And our horse guides were great, very helpful, friendly and informative. A very nice beach visit was at the end of our trip. Please be prepared to give generous tips on each leg of the trip, especially your horse guide and catamaran crew, they deserve it.

Long but great trip! - Great day and worth the time! This excursion was worth the trip but there’s a few things to be mindful of. If you’re in the Punta Cana area it’s about an 12 hour day. Close to 4 is the bus ride and there is about 2 more hours of travel actually on Samana island. The waterfall looked extremely different but there was heavy rain when we were there. The beach was beautiful! Staff were great and accommodating but also be prepared for tips throughout the day as multiple vendors help.

Few visits for many transportation - Lots of transportation to finally not really have time to visit. Bus , cross by boat, then truck to reach the waterfall then again truck to get back down then again boat and again bus. In short and all this route at express speed because you have to follow the timing! If you are looking for a quiet excursion, not recommended!

Book through Get Your Guide instead - This is the exact same tour you'll see on Get Your Guide except it's $30 cheaper there so don't book through here. There were people on my tour that had booked through Get Your Guide.
There wasn't much information provided for this tour before I booked. After the boat ride to Samana, you're loaded into safari vehicles and transported to the stables. Each horse/mule comes with a guide, they walk with horses to the waterfall. You are expected to tip these guides and I was told it was not included in my tour and the guide was very pushy about tipping.
You do have the option to walk instead of riding down but the path is full of dung. I felt bad for the horses. There is a point where the guides hold horses by the tail to keep them from going too fast.
The waterfall is beautiful but you do need to walk down and back up 280 steep muddy stairs.

El Limon Excursion - Very long day! Many transfers to actually get to waterfall. First a van ride to what looks like a gas station to get on a bus then a boat ride with to many people on it .Then a safari vehicle through town to some horses.wear your life jacket on the boat ride. There’s a 20 min horse back ride in the tour- you ride them twice. each way to falls and then a grueling hike first down stairs then up . The horses are treated bad, mine was swiped with a stick in its butt. and my guide was grabbing the horses’s face harness. Sad! The horse guides beg for money with a sob story - some of my friends in the group experienced this. You spend 20 min at the falls and it’s cloudy water. Then you go thru town in a safari truck to eat at a facility, buffet containing rice, beans, pasta, fruits.then back on the boat to the island where there’s a beach and people trying to sell you goods.you get one drink ticket while your at the beach. Then starts your trek back to your resort. Back on the boat then a long bus ride. We had a problem with the buses front tire so we conviently pulled us into a store which had chips and drinks. So after our bus driver got under the bus with just a wrench- very scary , he announced it was “fixed”. My friends feel nothing was wrong with the bus’s front tire just a scheme to make us stop at a store to spend tourist’s money. Mind you this was the bus that hit a cement boulder and gauged the bus early that morning going thru a narrow town because they don’t follow road laws or rules and is pretty dangerous..the falls are pretty,if your not up for a very long day, in a third world country with people trying to sell you something or begging. don’t do this excursion.

Not worth it - If you are nearby, then it's maybe worth it, but this one was a very long ride for a very short trip. First of all the tour guide forgets to speak English most of the time so we have no idea what's going on. The only guide on the bus didn't speak English although they say the tour is in english and that made communication difficult.
So, 30 minutes from hotel to a tour bus, then 2 more hours on the tour bus, then a 45 minutes boat ride, then another 30 minutes on an old rusty truck on a bumpy road. The truck had a rusty roof with open holes that dripped water. We couldn't sit cause water was soaking us, so we stood cramped uncomfortably under the roof parts that had no holes for about 30 minutes
Then another 20 minutes donkey ride (yes, they say it is a horse ride, but they give you a smelly donkey) on a road filled with donkey poop, then 10 minutes going down stairs (which will be hard to climb on the way back) just so you can bath for 20 minutes in an average lookimg waterfall that is super crowded muddy in a small area.
There is a changing wooden human size box so you can put on your swimwear. People peed and pooped on its floor and left toilet paper and sanitization pads on the floor. Actually, most of the places visited during this trip had no soap or even toilet paper
Then they take you to eat, which is limited to grilled chicken and pork, pasta and rice. Nothing out of the ordinary. You can find this food anywhere in the world or make it yourself.
Then, you take the boat to go to the beach where you spend an hour and get one free drink, either beer or soda.
Then, on the way back, you do the same trip again for 3 hrs or more. Nah, it isn't worth it. We started with our pick up at the hotel at 7am and arrived back at the hotel at 9pm and 80% of the time were on a bus, a truck, a baot, walking or on a donkey. Very little time to enjoy any activities or relax.

A tour with lots of transportation and an experience that did not meet expectations - The tour had some good times, but overall, I feel it didn't meet my expectations. It was a 13-hour tour where most of the time we were traveling, and although the destinations were beautiful, the experience itself did not justify so much transfer or the cost of the tour. In addition, on the horseback ride, the "volunteers" asked for tips insistently, which made the activity uncomfortable. I think with some adjustments in logistics and overall experience, the tour could be much more enjoyable.

DONT DO THIS TOUR - DONT DO THIS TOUR. Weve been on many excursions on many islands, have always have a wonderful time and never complained, until now. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. It’s more driving than anything. Huge waste of time.
They picked us up at 640am from the hotel, dropped us off at a gas station nearby, and left us there for over an hour.
It’s 2 hours to port on a nasty old bus, the erratic driving will make you nauseous.
45 min non-scenic boat ride later and then you get on a rickety open back truck for another hour.
Arrive at Samana and ride on a horse crap littered trail on an emancipated pony. The tour guides at Samaná are not getting paid and are forced to care for the companies horses in their homes (aka slave labor).
The waterfall is brown and undoubtedly full of horse feces.
The tour takes well over 12 hours NOT 10 AS ADVERTISED.
We lost the entire day.
They DID NOT provide bottled water and the “free drinks” was literally a bottle of the crappiest rum they could buy and a bottle of coke.
The tour guides are unapologetic and rude.
I’ll be lobbying for my money back which I never ever do.

Good experience ruined by pushy stable boys - I understand tips are not included in excursions but I have never experienced this level of harassment for tips. The stable boys separated our group and gave each of us spill that they do not get paid and make their money only from tips. The company that owns the horses doesn’t give them money to feed the horses. They demanded $30 per person minimum. They threatened my wife telling her this place is not safe and tourist get shot here and disappear after we tipped them $5 per person halfway through horse ride and it wasn’t enough for them. They ruined the whole experience for us and would NOT recommend this excursion to anyone.
It does not state in description but bus ride is total of 4 hours.
