The city’s historic center dates back to colonial times and is dominated by the 16th-century San Felipe Fortress, a Spanish structure that now houses historical and military artifacts.

Puerto Plata is a city rich in culture, history, and a variety of attractions. A highlight is the Isabel de Torres Mountain, standing at 2,565 feet (800 meters), which can be accessed by truck. At the mountain’s summit, visitors can admire the stunning flowers in the botanical garden.

Step back in time and explore the history of Fort San Felipe. Situated at the end of the pedestrian walkway on the oceanfront boulevard, the fort offers breathtaking landscapes and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The historic center is nestled in the city’s most iconic area. A guide will share insights about the city’s history, the cathedral, and numerous interesting facts. Visitors will have approximately 45 minutes to explore at their leisure.

Lunch is provided at a local ranch, where guests can sample the renowned mamajuana and shop for souvenirs.
