Great trip to glacier lagoon - Comfortable van for a fairly long ride. There were only six of us and the guide was very flexible and accommodating. We rode the boat at the glacier lagoon($ not included) -highly recommended

Good way to get to glacier lagoon - First off the places we visited we very beautiful. If your coming to Djupivogur on a cruise your options are limited and Artistica provided a way to see these beautiful places. I am glad I saw the Diamond Beach and Glacier Lagoon. Before booking, people should note they will be in a car/van for the majority of the day to get to these places. I knew this upon booking, but it was still not an easy fete to be in the car with limited time in these places. I think where I felt the tour was lacking some is as much time as we were in the car, there was little interaction or explanation from our driver who was to new Iceland. There was a tape played at the beginning but he could not answer many questions. When you're in the car that much , having explanations and knowledge of things would have made the time in the van and day much more knowledgeable.

Great destination but maybe not with this travel guide - We were met dockside for this tour as planned. Beforehand we were told that 8 people had booked on this tour and that it would be a Transit type minibus. We were all off the Viking cruise ship. My expectation was that - we would travel in one vehicle, the vehicle would allow us to see the scenery, the tour guide would be Icelandic and give commentary and advice along the way. That proved not to be the case. Adrienne met us in her pink coat. She is Spanish and moved to Iceland in 2020. Her English is not great. She realised when the 8 of us were stood next to her Ford Transit minivan that, due to the fact that her partner Ilya was with us also, that we would not all fit in her van. Only 9 seats but there was 10 of us. This seemed to be a surprise to her as we stood there in the rain. So we had to split up, we and another couple went in the van and 4 guys travelling together went in Adriennes car. She had an estate which had 7 seats as there were 2 seats in the hatchback. They looked pretty cramped in as they drove away. So Ilya drove us. He then said in very broken English that he cannot converse very well in English, so, from him, there was silence for the next 2+ hours apart from a toilet stop. No guide commentary from him then. The van was an issue. Although it was quite comfortable the windows in the back where we were seated had heavy shading. I recently had my own car fitted with shading mainly for security and i estimate that 70% of the light was stopped by the transit shaded windows. Not good when we are trying to see the scenery. I mentioned this to Adrienne before we set off, that we could not see out of the windows and this was a scenic tour, and she just shrugged. After 45min or Ilya put on a pre recorded tape of AI talking about Iceland. Some of it was relevant to the trip but we zoned out after a while as AI is a robot and its voice became annoying. We had a great couple to travel with so they help us pass the time. We finally got to the glacial lagoon and it was fantastic to see icebergs the size of houses drift by, the colours were amazing. There were toilets, a shop and snacks. We then drove to another car park 2 min away and walked on diamond beach so called because smaller icebergs had been washed up on the black sand beach and they were amazing. The destination was easily worth the 2.5 hours each way. There was no AI tape on the way back so we had to amuse ourselves with travel chit chat. The weather at the lagoon was dry but the rain came in again on the way back. Ilya and Adrienne made another stop on the way back which was totally pointless. It was a nice viewpoint of the Vestrahorn mountain at the beach which would be spectacular in sunshine but we had gale force winds and driving rain. The cloud was a low as 500ft so we could not see anything. It was a 2 mile diversion from the main road on a dirt track. We felt it was a total waste of time, it was not explained to us beforehand that this is what we were going to be doing when we just wanted to be back on the ship as soon as possible so we feel we wasted 45min doing this. So all in all, although our guides were nice people, we would not recommend choosing them for the reasons above.

Beautiful sites.... Lot of driving - Jokulsarlon and Diamond Beach were beautiful and worth the drive. AMAZING! There were also amazing food trucks at Jokulsarlon... having said that, the "stops" at Stoekness and Hofn were really bathroom breaks, and the ride there was filled with a CD or recording of a voice talking about the area. The guide accidentally left his microphone on while he was having a conversation with the guest in the next seat. Also the van was VERY hot. Even with all of that, the site was well worth a visit..... the rest...meh!

Bait and switch - We have from Djupivogur only one tour with 4 must-see destinations of Iceland's South Coast on a guided shore excursion. 1. Stokksnes Vestrahorn 2. Glacial Lagoon in Jökulsárlón where you will enjoy a picnic with an Icelandic traditional sandwich, drink, and chocolate (included in the price) 3. Diamonds Beach 4. Visit the charming fishing village of Höfn On the way we will see some waterfalls but we will not stop. HERE IS WHAT WE ACTUALLY GOT 1. We never went to Stokksnes Vestrahorn. 2. We never got a picnic. The bus took us to a snack shop where we all had to pay out of our pocket for snacks and drinks. So, what was included in the price? 3. We never saw the charming fishing village of Hofn. What we saw was a grocery store in Hofn for about 30-40 minutes and on the retur, saw a gas station and convenience store. 4. We saw just 1 waterfall from the bus. Not "some waterfalls."

Don't go in poor weather - The weather was awful. Rain, wind, fog and 50 deg F. No visibility. Could not see anything. Guide was not overly informative of actual activities. Did not inform us that lunch was to be purchased at a grocery store bathroom break at 10:00 am. Got to glacier lagoon in howling wind and rain. Stayed less than 15 minutes before moving on the diamond beach(which was not described nor explained prior to stopping) again a very short extremely cold beach walk.. Could not visit the mountain viewpoint due to weather. So 5 hours of driving in the rain for 30 minutes to seeing a few ice chunks was not worth the significant cost. Weather can not be controlled but this trip should have been canceled. May have been great if sun was out

A terrible tour and nothing at like what was spoken of in the online description and in our emails with Aristica - I only wish there was a lower rating than 1 star. We were told the tour would be a little over 7 hours. Here is how it broke down. 5 1/2 hours on a bus; 45 minutes spent at a grocery store in Hofn. 30 minutes looking at the glacier and buying crap food at the mini food store; 15 minutes looking at the Diamond Beach. 20 minutes back in Hofn at a gas station and convenience store. The bus was so small it looked the seats were designed for grade school children. No leg room at all. Very uncomfortable and it took a great deal of shouting to the driver to get him to turn the A/C on. Yes we stopped at Hofn but never saw anything of the "charming fishing village" as promised. One has to assume the driver gets a kickback from the grocery store where we spent so much time. At the lagoon we never got the free ("included in the price) Icelandic picnic + drinks. We bought food and drinks with our own money at the mini food store by the lagoon. Aristica spoke of Stokksnes Vestrahorn. What was that? We certainly never stopped. Was this the site viewed from the bus on the way to the Lagoon? If so, every single car on that road saw Stockness then.

No tour guide - While the glacier lagoon and diamond beach are a must-do, do not use this local tour company. Our group of approximately 25 was split into two vehicles, a 20 passenger van and an 8 passenger van. My wife and i were sent to the small vehicle with 4 other people. Our driver did not speak english in any meaningful way so we had no opportunity to ask questions or get answers. The tour guide drove the other van and interacted with our van for a maximum 5-10 minutes. We asked for a partial refund as a competent guide is critical to a successful tour. We were turned down.
