- Delphi Archaeological Museum - DAY 1. Delphi is situated on several plateaux along the slopes of Mt Parnassus and includes the Sanctuary of Apollo, home to the ancient Oracle. The ancient Greeks believed Delphi to be the center of the world, marked by the stone monument known as the omphalos (navel). The Delphi Archaeological Museum, located at the base of the main archaeological site, houses an impressive collection related to ancient Delphi, including the earliest known musical notation, the renowned Charioteer of Delphi, Kleobis and Biton, golden treasures found beneath the Sacred Way, the Sphinx of Naxos, and fragments of reliefs from the Siphnian Treasury. Near the exit is an inscription mentioning the Roman proconsul Gallio.
Separate entry fees apply to the museum and the main complex, but a discounted ticket is available for both. A small café and a post office are located near the museum.
- Arachova - DAY 1. Arachova is a mountain town and former municipality in western Boeotia, Greece. It is a popular tourist destination due to its mountainous location, traditions, and proximity to Delphi. Arachova’s Formaela cheese has been granted protected designation of origin status. Nearby, modern ski facilities attract many visitors. The town offers panoramic views and is renowned for its black wine, its brusque, colorful textiles, carpets, rugs, handicrafts, and woodcut creations.
- Battlefield of Thermopylae - DAY 2. The Battle of Thermopylae was fought between an alliance of Greek city-states, led by King Leonidas I of Sparta, and the Achaemenid Empire of Xerxes I over three days during the second Persian invasion of Greece. It coincided with the naval battle at Artemisium in August or September 480 BC, at the narrow coastal pass of Thermopylae (“The Hot Gates”). The Persian invasion was a delayed response to the defeat of the first Persian invasion of Greece, concluded by the Athenian victory at the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC. By 480 BC, Xerxes had assembled a vast army and navy to conquer all of Greece. Both ancient and modern writers have cited the Battle of Thermopylae as an example of a patriotic army’s power in defending its homeland. The defenders’ performance is also seen as a testament to the benefits of training and equipment, symbolizing courage against overwhelming odds.
- Meteora - DAY 2. Meteora in central Greece hosts one of the largest and most dramatically built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos. The six monasteries are constructed on immense natural pillars and rounded boulders that dominate the landscape. Meteora is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Of the six active monasteries, the Holy Monastery of St. Stephen and the Holy Monastery of Roussanou are inhabited by nuns, while the others are home to monks.
- Lake Plastira - DAY 3. Lake Plastira, also known as Tavropos Reservoir, is an artificial lake fed by the Tavropos (Megdovas) River, located near the city of Karditsa, Greece. Today, the lake holds up to 400 million cubic meters of fresh water. Due to its high altitude (one of the highest in Europe), the Tavropos Reservoir is a popular tourist destination in Greece, offering a unique landscape.
- Kamena Vourla - DAY 3. Kamena Vourla is a seaside resort located in Central Greece, opposite the northernmost point of the island of Evia.
