Not a history specialist... - Not a history specialist but particularly touching as it is its own and his brother's story. You'll learn a lot of details about the bogside and the Bloody Sunday.

History up close - Very informative talk by John, great to have someone who was witness to the most turbulent time of the sixties there, and could give background on how people lived through it. Good to see history, and modern times reflected in the murals we visited. Our guide was also pleasant and helpful.

A Contextualized Witness - The fact that our guide was present during Bloody Sunday hit on a personal level. We were taken around to each monument and site and were given information on the site, viewing from a literal modern and past lens. Our guide was mixing the basic facts with his own story, likewise to hearing two parallel stories at once. I would recommend this and pairing it with the Free Derry museum; tell them you went on the tour for a discount!

The Bogside, A Really GreatTour - My friend and I took the Troubles Bogside Walking Tour with Michael Cooper. It was excellent! Michael started the tour in Guildhall Square, he was punctual and welcoming to my friend who was visiting the area. He opened with a brief synopsis of the history of Derry and explained the origins of the name The Bogside so that on starting the tour we had some sense of how the city had evolved. He was very knowledgeable but didn't just reel off facts. He was enthusiastic about his subject and managed to impart that enthusiasm to us. He took ample time to answer questions and go over anything that we hadn't picked up on. The pace of the tour was just right with frequent pauses to discuss a particular point or describe how the area had looked in the early days of the troubles and the changes that have taken place. There was no sense of hurry to get to the end of the tour. He also painted a picture of a vibrant community which was sometimes forgotten in the midst of the troubles. Michael also recommended other places of interest to visit which was helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this tour, it's extremely interesting and great value for money!

Amazing Tour with Noel - My friend and I did this walking tour yesterday with Noel and it was amazing. We enjoyed learning more about the Conflict and where its most significant events happened in the Bogside. The hear from people like Noel, it's a way to see history come to life and remember the difficulties the communities of Northern Ireland had to overcome. Noel was really nice, a great guide and I found his tour to be very moving but at the same time never too heavy or grim. People like these are precious members of our communities, and it is important to listen to their stories so that we can honour and remember those that died for peace but also so that we never go back. Noel is a legend 💚 - Noel's tour was amazing, very passionate and emotional. As tour guides ourselves, it was an amazing way to spend our short time in Derry and hear the history from the source. It was unbelievable and we would highly recommend

Great your , great guide. - Our tour guide was John. A local man and Derry City supporter whose family were directly impacted by Bloody Sunday. He was friendly, knowledgeable and well prepared to answer any questions from the group. He gave a great insight into the events of the Battle of the Bogside and Bloody Sunday - why these events happened, how they impacted on the people of Derry, and how they are linked to international Civil Rights Movements of the time. The tour finishes at the Museum of Free Derry with discounted entrance. The museum is also a must see as it brings the stories of the tour and families struggles for justice together. Highly recommended to visitors from abroad or from Ireland. GRMA a Sheain.
