- Handunugoda Tea Estate - The Handunugoda Tea Estate is a prestigious, family-owned plantation located in Ahangama, near Galle, in southern Sri Lanka. Covering around 200 acres, with 150 acres dedicated to tea cultivation and the rest to rubber, cinnamon, and coconut, the estate is celebrated for its artisanal tea production methods.
The estate’s standout product is the exclusive Virgin White Tea, crafted using an ancient Chinese tradition where the tea is never touched by human hands during harvesting and processing. Workers use sterilized scissors and gloves to collect the delicate buds at dawn, ensuring the tea’s purity and high antioxidant content.
