South Sea Half day cruise Fiji - I would highly recommend the half-day cruise that comes with lunch and snorkeling included, for those that love to chillax on the beach. Diving is additional cost. The undersea adventure was ok! I loved how committed they are with organising lunch. They went above and beyond to get me vegetarian meals, cooking up freshly on the spot! I think that was the best highlight of my trip! It’s a beautiful beach, scenery is great! One must enjoy this ride!

Scuba diving for scaredy-cat non-swimmers!! Perfect Island Day - This island is a beautiful little experience for a half day, with friendly, good-natured and efficient staff. Good weather is a must to really enjoy it, thankfully we were graced with a perfect day. To get the most from this experience:
1) Listen to what's on offer to be able to time what you want to do when. You'll get the most out of your time this way.
2) Don't dawdle. The day goes fast and if you want to participate in activities get in line in good time so you don't miss out! Be ready in plenty of time for the 4pm boat return. Despite being ready at 3:45pm ours left early without us! But we jumped on the last one holding the supplies - although it's not a bad place to be stranded either....
3) Want quiet? Head across the island for your spot - not around it. Alighting the boat, my quick thinking husband headed straight through the middle of the island to find an empty spot under a thatched umbrella with 2 recliner chairs and a table on the quieter side of the island. Gorgeous view.
4) Reef shoes. Cheap ones are just as good and are seriously worth their weight in gold. You want to be able to enjoy walking out into the water or on the corally parts of the shore, this is an island with lots of natural coral.
5) Be friendly. Fijians are good-natured and have a great sense of humour. Appreciate the experience the staff are offering you! I have read other reviews of this experience... if the boat men are concentrating and not smiling every second, it's because they are paying attention to what's going on. Having said that, there were plenty of smiles from our boatmen as well : )
6) Bring cash. Fijian's 'accept but don't expect' but a tip is super well deserved here, you also might like to purchase some souvenirs at the stall.
7) Lunch is included and there is plenty of variety from which to help yourself (they also cater for some dietary requirements) but if your kids are fussy then bring your own snacks for them. It was all well organised and efficient and tasted great.
8) If you are considering forking out extra for scuba diving DO IT! I can't swim nor breathe under water. But for the announcement when they made it clear you don't have to be able to swim, they hold your hand the whole time and you can cough, sneeze, hum with the equipment I'd not ever have considered it. Sogo was our experienced scuba instructor, explaining the gear but controlling it for nervous people / beginners like me. You don't jump from a boat but wander out from the shore. I spent much time freaking out when putting my head in, not used to breathing in under water and hyperventilating before jerking my head out again but Sogo was SO patient and spent lots of time just coaching me how to breathe under water whilst we stood in the water, holding my hands the whole time, listening to my fears and gently getting me to try again. I was truly deciding to quit at this point, meanwhile my husband is off in the water like a fish so I couldn't tell him, but Sogo's encouragement got me to try again. I put my head in, breathe, see a curious fish near our feet (we are still super close to shore), a pale yellow needlefish and decided to persevere. Then success! When ready, Sogo led me deeper down, 5-7 m into the water and whilst I was still nervous, I was able to really appreciate the indescribable world down there, fish of every shape and colour, incredibly close - as if you are part of their school. Coral, clams, writing doesn't do it justice. And all the while feeling safe with the guide who directed me and made sure all I was OK at all times. But for him I'd never have been able to experience this. For someone like me it was truly life changing and I will forever be grateful.
South Sea Island gives you every opportunity of enjoying your day, from performances to photo opportunities with the performers, souvenir stall, cocktail bar / pies you can buy and free beer / soft drink / water all day. Child care available where a gentle Fijian lady was occupying a little one. Well maintained amenities are close by, lockers available if you want to snorkel /scuba - although we had no issues leaving our stuff by our recliners. You can swim in the small pool - but why would you when you can enjoy the sea?! The day includes an optional trip in the glass bottomed boat which we did first before scuba diving, you sit in the bottom of the boat which is a confined place for those with claustrophobia but cleverly designed. The boatman said it was a bit murky on our day but we could still see lots, although scuba / snorkeling is of course much clearer. Walking around the island took around 7 - 8 minutes.
An absolutely gorgeous spot, well run and well worth spending your time.

Finding Nemo Tour - Lovely tour for parents with slightly older children. Went with 8yo daughter. Staff were wonderful and naturally Fijian with their welcome. Only about 40 other people on the island with us. Did snorkelling and the amount of fish we saw was better than anywhere else I’ve dived as an OpenWater diver. Free use of snorkels and fins, also used kayaks. Beautiful coral and massive amount of fish to see. Free drinks from a complementary bar.

Surprisingly enjoyable short trip - I booked this trip last minute, like the day before the actual trip. So thank you for the quick confirmation. There wasn't many instructions, so you did have to ask around and use some common sense. We were picked up on time from our hotel, but were missed from the list but driver still took us. There wasn't any instruction for when we returned, but just went back to the area we were dropped off and asked about hotels they were delivering people off at. Went to check in area at the wharf to get our tickets from sales office to board and lady found us from our online booking. We were given paper tickets & directed to the pier to wait for the boat. Since it was a 25min. Boat ride, we got onto another small boat close to the island which was a nice experience and the island was small with lots of coral so best to bring beach shoes because the coral is sharp & slippery. Hosts were amazing and a number of water activities you can do there on the small island. We had a lovely BBQ lunch with free drinks and there were small craft gifts you can buy so bring some cash for gifts & ice cream. We thoroughly enjoyed it as a half day trip!

Not all we had hoped for - The wharf had 3 boats tied up and there was confusion about when to go aboard since two boats seemed to be boarding at the same time. Not well organised. A cloudy day so not ideal but smooth boat trip to South Sea Island. Difficult for older people such as us to get off the tender and help was appreciated. Nice welcome trio playing for 5 minutes. Fantastic performance and delicious lunch. It was fun getting a photo with Fiji 'warriors'! Very disappointed that the semi-submersible was out for maintenance again (as mentioned in other reviews) as that was what we'd looked forward to. Also no WiFi due to internet problems. Other activities offered weren't for us. Weather became much more windy and overcast so we opted to leave the island early. On the trip back to Denerau we had to stop at another island to pick up another tour. It was very difficult to moor alongside that wharf because of the swell. Those passengers had problems getting on board and one injured their foot stepping from the wharf. Finally we arrived back safely thanks to the captain and crew.
