Recommended day trip for toddler families - This was a great day trip with a toddler when staying mostly at Sofitel in Denerau. Our first day was cloudy and they cancelled water sports so we were offered to change to the Friday for free. It was a stunning day, with an easy bus trip to the port followed by a nice short boat trip. I wasn’t prepared for there being no jetty (unlike at Malamala island) so it was a mission carrying the toddler onto the little engine boats to get to the shore. But the staff helped and the friendly singing welcome to the island was fun. The BBQ lunch was huge and varied, fresh and delicious (the most lunch food I ate all week) and the paid bar was reasonable for additional cocktails and ice cream beyond the inclusive offer. We got loungers under some shade near the shore. It is very coral rocky so reef shoes are a must! My husband has a PADI licence and thoroughly enjoyed his dive. We didn’t do the Nemo boat as we heard it was very hot down there but we still had a wonderful day and would thoroughly recommend it as value for money to experience the “paradise island” seaside

Absolutely Worth It - This was such a good day. Plenty of places to sit in the shade. The snorkeling was awesome, I took the boat out to the reef and it was worth it but even the snorkeling off the beach is good. I paid for a massage and it was great and a good price. Staff were friendly and well organised. Only thing to consider, it is a long day, left our hotel at 9am and got back at 6:30pm. Would have preferred it to be a couple of hours shorter.

Island bliss - Quick and comfortable ferry trip from Denaru Marina. The island is small but packed with things to do, with multiple opportunities to do a semi submersible boat ride, snorkeling (from a boat and off the beach) and cultural performances all included. Also included was the generous BBQ lunch and drinks package. We opted to have the beach massage too ($60FJD for 40min), but missed the intro to scuba diving ($199FJD). We also grabbed some delicious cocktails ($20-25FJD each). Awesome relaxing day!

Great full day trip on an island - Our family of 4 enjoyed spent a full day on this relaxing island was such a great experience. The big catamaran was a smooth trip to the island, 25 mins to Malamala Island then a further 5 mins to South Seas Island. A small boat transfers us from the catamaran to the island. There are some singers welcoming us onto the island which was a nice welcoming. We got to go on the semi-submarine to experience the under water view without getting wet which was an amazing view. The BBQ lunch was yum with salads (garden, potato, fruit, coleslaw), garlic bread, chicken drumsticks, sausage, fish curry and rice and complimentary bar was definitely a bonus with water, soft drink cans, beer and wine. There were a few different seating options around the island to chill on. Our 10 yo daughter and I paddled around in a kayak spotting the coral and fish from above before both daughters (10) (11) got a snorkel and had their first experience of snorkeling which they loved. The small pool in the middle of the island was also used. There was a small stall of souvenirs you could purchase The cultural dance show was also good. It was a good amount of time just to chill out on the small island. We highly recommend this tour for a day trip.

Island experience - The boat trip was nice so was the island for me the time there was too long and luckily we had an opportunity to leave 1 hour early. It said complimentary pick up but we didn’t get the option because we didn’t stay at a resort but nobody offered us to go to the nearest resort and was told we had to find our own way there which we did added an extra $80 to the trip

Fun experience...but - Great crew and snorkeling but there is no education on the fragility of the coral. Our in water guide even stood atop a beautiful coral to watch over us. Other snorkelers were standing on the coral as well. So important to educate.

Good day but a few tweaks would make it better! - Lovely day but disappointed that the submersible wasn’t operating and we weren’t advised until we arrived at the island. We chose this trip specifically for this option as I’m not a snorkeling fan.Felt a little like we had been duped ! Transfer back to the hotel could Have been better too - long wait and lots of confusion. But on the whole, a great day ina beautiful spot!

The stuff wasn't as... - The stuff wasn't as friendly, the guy in the bar shouting at the customers, food very avarage. The best part of it, only 30min from mainland.

South sea Island!! Not worth going.. - Our one day trip was very disappointing..The food was below average and not enough for everyone. For the price they charged there’s no value for money . I would not recommend south sea cruises . Plus it was the most boring trip I’ve done..nothing to do..

Disappointing - We went with our family on our last day in Fiji with the hopes of getting some R and R. We did several other day trips which we absolutely loved so this one was extremely disappointing in comparison. From the very beginning it felt like we did not matter as customers. We barely made the bus transfer in the morning despite waiting at our hotel - luckily our hotel porter realized the bus wasn’t stopping and chased it down. At Port Denarau the south sea staff were rude and we waited in line for more than 30 mins while they checked other people in who were not in line. Several people in line behind us got very angry and we were finally checked in with very little time to get to our boat. Upon boarding the boat there was nothing personal - no bula, no good morning - just a mad dash from everyone to find a seat. The captains lounge is a joke so don’t do it. The transfer to the smaller boats to get on the island was difficult as the weather was choppy and several people got completely soaked. We can blame it on the weather and bad luck - but there was no empathy from the staff and again it felt like we didn’t matter. The island is small and while there are lots of great spaces to sit, people were fighting for them. A couple next to us got up to go to the bar and when they came back, their belongings were moved and the staff at the massage tent had taken their bean bag chairs. The announcer was impatient and lacked any type of enthusiasm or positive emotion. As soon as we arrived it was time for lunch. Lunch was fine. But not as good as some of the other trips we’ve done and the staff were all very business and lacked the Fijian hospitality we’ve become accustomed to. The bar will only let you get one drink at a time… which is fine in theory but it meant that if you are doing something (relaxing in a chair, playing volleyball, swimming with kids etc) you can’t have a partner or friend get you a drink when they go to the bar. And when I watched several people try to get a drink for their friend - the bartender was rude. It just added to an overall negative vibe for the day. My kids had fun but that was mostly because of the other tourists on the island and not the staff. There are other cruises and passes to the island all day so the same announcements and entertainment are happening on repeat. If you do choose this option do not do the combo tour! Those poor people get on the island, eat and leave again. There is an earlier departure at 4pm if you choose to take it and several people on our day did because they were not impressed with their experience. If you leave early you have to organize your own transportation back to your hotel. The one highlight is the market - these women were kind and participated in the entertainment which we did appreciate. To end the day we were transferred back to port Denarau and had to wait for more than hour on the bus while another cruise came in. This was extremely frustrating for everyone as our hotels were only 10 mins away and the driver could have brought us back and then come to get the others. We could have said it was just a bad day but in reading other reviews I think this is standard. There was no communication about what was happening and when other passengers got off the bus to enquire our driver was rude. Had we known it would be an hour wait we would have paid for our own taxi because at that point we were all hungry. Lunch was served at 11:30 and we didn’t get back to our hotel until after 7pm. I don’t often take the time to write reviews but we had such a good time with our other day trips that I wish we had saved our money and stayed at the hotel for our final day. Our experience with South Sea from beginning to end was disappointing.
