Great full day trip on an island - Our family of 4 enjoyed spent a full day on this relaxing island was such a great experience. The big catamaran was a smooth trip to the island, 25 mins to Malamala Island then a further 5 mins to South Seas Island. A small boat transfers us from the catamaran to the island. There are some singers welcoming us onto the island which was a nice welcoming. We got to go on the semi-submarine to experience the under water view without getting wet which was an amazing view. The BBQ lunch was yum with salads (garden, potato, fruit, coleslaw), garlic bread, chicken drumsticks, sausage, fish curry and rice and complimentary bar was definitely a bonus with water, soft drink cans, beer and wine. There were a few different seating options around the island to chill on. Our 10 yo daughter and I paddled around in a kayak spotting the coral and fish from above before both daughters (10) (11) got a snorkel and had their first experience of snorkeling which they loved. The small pool in the middle of the island was also used. There was a small stall of souvenirs you could purchase The cultural dance show was also good. It was a good amount of time just to chill out on the small island. We highly recommend this tour for a day trip.

Awesome day trip - We did this day trip with South Sea Cruises and it was great. We all had a blast. It's basiclly an all-inclusive excursion. Once you get to the island, everything is included; food, drinks, water activities, submarine tour, etc. You can do as much as you want or as little and just chill. You can walk around the entire island in less than 15 minutes. Highly recommend bringing water shoes because you'll need them since it's rocky and lots of coral everywhere.

MUST DO IN FIJI - What a great experience! Recommend this 100%. Food was great, performances were great, the submarine experience was awesome, the activities on the island were just very well done! Only tip for people is to take some sand shoes because the sand was quite rough with large shards of shells.

Great day of snorkelling and relaxing (and some top tips) - We had good weather and a great relaxing and fun day. We had a transfer from Shangri-La on the Coral Coast. Once arriving at Port Denarau you check-in at the terminal before boarding the Catamaran - it is 25 minutes to Malamala and then 5 more minutes to South Sea Island (South Sea Island is definitely the small tropical island you see in the movies). The transfer back is straight to Port Denarau and we got a great sunset. Once the Catamaran arrives at the island, you transfer to a small transfer boat (you get in this at the back of the catamaran on the bottom floor, both sides). This lands on the sand, which can be a bit unsteady if there is swell. They sing a welcome song and then “Bula” welcome and response. There is a speaker playing music, which we didn’t mind as it created ambience. When you arrive, you need to quickly claim some beach chairs and then head to the middle of the island to the picnic tables for a briefing. We had no problem getting snorkels and went out twice on the boat. Each trip is 15 minutes for a quick snorkel. You need to sign a waiver for the snorkelling equipment. We also did the semi submersible submarine, but couldn’t see much because it was a bit choppy, which stirred up the sand on the bottom. This goes for about 10 minutes. We gave the small pool a miss, because the ocean and other activities (and relaxing on the beach) was more than enough. We didn’t do the beach volleyball either. We also walked around the island, which was lovely and took a relaxing 10 minute stroll. Things to be aware of: * Bring your own towel * Given the amount of Coral around the island, there are lots of shells and hard coral fragments on the sand near the water. It looked as though one party had been cleared to make it a bit easier. * there are toilets and showers you can change in (we wore clothes with thongs and changed into swimmers and then changed back) *There is a rough schedule of activities (a bit flexible) and they make announcements when activities are on. * included is Buffet BBQ lunch and drinks (water, coke, Coke Zero, Fanta, sprite, red/white wine and Fiji gold). Lunch is on the early side. * You can buy cocktails, snacks (pie, chips, Magnum FJD$10) from a separate bar, which accepts cash or card. * Good normal toilets and some showers Try to relax on the beach and enjoy the view or read a book for a bit! If it is bad weather (pretty windy or rainy) it would not be very nice (not much indoor space and nothing to do). I’d recommend canceling if it’s going to be bad weather the entire day.

GREAT DAY OUT BEAUTIFUL ISLAND - The water was crystal clear & warm. There are activities to do on the island. I recommend you do the full day & not the half day tour as there are things to do. There was a performance by the locals. There is also buffet lunch which was nice. Great day out

Great day out! - We went on a day trip to south sea island and had the best time. Great food, nice setting, lots of seating options and staff were very helpful. I would recommend the full day trip as this allows you enough time to do some activities as well as relax.

Great family day trip. - Very good island for family day trip. Great staff and food. Very good submerged vessel to view underwater fish. Great snorkeling too.

Good day but a few tweaks would make it better! - Lovely day but disappointed that the submersible wasn’t operating and we weren’t advised until we arrived at the island. We chose this trip specifically for this option as I’m not a snorkeling fan.Felt a little like we had been duped ! Transfer back to the hotel could Have been better too - long wait and lots of confusion. But on the whole, a great day ina beautiful spot!

A great day out - A great day out. As others have said, the beach is not soft sand, but rather lots of washed up dead coral, so take beach shoes. The snorkelling was great (not on par with somewhere like the Maldives, but decent). Lunch was good. Some non-fizzy soft drinks for the children would have been good

Disappointing Experience - My experience with south sea day trip was disappointing due to several issues. Despite waiting at the designated pickup location from 8:00 AM to 9:05 AM, I witnessed the bus pass by without stopping. Attempts to contact them at 8:30 AM via call and message went unanswered, which forced me to arrange alternative transportation via taxi on my first day in a new country. Furthermore, while I understand their policy regarding refunds once travel has begun, the lack of communication and missed pickup resulted in unexpected expenses that I believe should be reimbursed. The booking did not clearly indicate that the pickup and drop-off service was complimentary, leading to confusion about additional costs incurred. Overall, the service provided did not meet expectations, particularly in terms of communication and adherence to pickup arrangements. I hope these points are addressed for future guests.
