Texel is adorned with grassy dunes, heather-filled landscapes, and vibrant fields of tulips, daffodils and lavender. The island is home to white sheep, seals, horses grazing in the haze and numerous bird species. Quaint villages dotted with windmills, ice cream stands, and horse-drawn carriages, as if lifted from a children’s storybook. The harbor is bustling with a promenade, fishing equipment, vintage rowboats, fishing vessels showing signs of diligent use, and a striking red lighthouse. One can listen to the soothing, deep hum of the northern sea as it softly cascades over the fine white sand. It’s spectacularly picturesque where the sky and sea blur into one, devoid of a defined horizon. Time seems non-existent here.
