Taj Mahal - Upon arrival, you will visit the Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Mumtaz Mahal, the former wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. This grand white marble mausoleum was built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by order of Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife. The Taj Mahal is a jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of world heritage. Located along the bank of the River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal spans almost 42 acres of land. It is believed that this spot was chosen by the emperor for its peaceful and soothing effect. As one of the seven wonders of the world, it stands as a tribute to undying love, leaving all who visit it in awe at the first sight of this marble marvel.
-
Agra Fort - After visiting the Taj Mahal, you will have lunch at one of the best restaurants in Agra and then continue to Agra Fort. Commissioned by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565, the fort is a prime example of Mughal architecture. It effectively showcases how the northern Indian style of fort construction differed from that in the south, where most forts, like the one at Bekal in Kerala, were built on the seabed.
If you wish, you can continue to visit the Baby Taj (Itmad-ud-Daulah) (optional).
- New Delhi - Later, you will drive back to Delhi, where our driver will drop you off at the airport or your specified destination.
