Embarking on a journey to Bagamoyo offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the history and culture of the area. Not only will they be able to visit the first church built in East Africa, but they will also get to see the Old German Boma, used by German leaders, and the horrific execution site where many Africans were hung during colonial times. The tour includes the ruins of Kaile, a monument that has stood since the 13th century. This distinctive journey also provides visitors with a chance to engage with the local community and learn about the authentic culture of Bagamoyo’s residents. Participants will get a glimpse of the initial point at which missionaries arrived implementing Christianity in East Africa. Plus, there’s an opportunity to explore the crocodile ranch.
