- Musée des Civilisations Noires, Autoroute Prolongée, Place de la Gare, Dakar, Senegal - An accredited tour guide will greet visitors and accompany them to this Museum of Black Civilizations, which opened in December 2018. Spanning 150,000 square feet and inspired by the traditional circular hut, this museum was designed to showcase Africa’s contributions to global culture and scientific heritage. The guide will lead visitors through various galleries featuring African art from prehistory to contemporary times. The museum celebrates Africa’s achievements in art and artworks worldwide.
- IFAN Museum (African Arts Museum) - An accredited guide will accompany visitors to the IFAN Museum, housed in an old colonial building. It became a national museum in 1966, just six years after Senegal’s independence. It was renamed the Théodore Monod Museum in 2007 in honor of a French scientist whose work contributed to the restoration of African art. While exploring the museum with the guide, visitors will discover ancient African arts and artifacts primarily from West African countries, ranging from Sub-Saharan Africa to tropical West African regions. A wide array of masks, basketry, pottery, leather arts, ceremonial scenes, and more can be seen. Most of these objects were used for religious and ceremonial events.

It celebrates Africa’s rebirth and resilience with a promising future. Visitors can walk the 198 steps with the guide for a panoramic view of Dakar or simply stroll around and take pictures.

Its neo-Sudanese and colonial architecture, featuring a circular colorful building, makes it a unique market to visit in Dakar. Known as the “Market of Flowers,” it also hosts shops selling vegetables, fruits, meats, and fish. Visitors can also explore nearby arts and crafts for souvenirs.
